DS just turned 2. About 2 weeks ago we converted his crib into a toddler bed. Now he is free to get out of bed if he chooses. We never coslept and don't plan to start because DH and I don't sleep at all with LO in our bed. DS started getting out of his bed in the middle of the night and climbing into ours. It started because he was sick and that's ok, but now he's making a habit of it which we don't want.
If your toddler is in a toddler bed how do you prevent this from happening? I see many sleepless night ahead of us!
Re: DS climbing into our bed at night
my read shelf:
You can't *prevent* it, so much as teach your kid it's not worth his time. EVERY SINGLE TIME he comes into your bed, walk him back to your room. This could take a dozen tries over two nights, or it could take 200 tries over a month. Whatever it takes, though, you must be COMPLETELY consistent, or he'll only learn that if he keeps trying, eventually, he'll win.
Personally, I wouldn't send the mixed message of "well, when you're sick enough, then you can come into bed with us, but if you're not sick enough, then you can't".
If you don't want him able to leave his room at all, either a locked door or a baby gate in front?
