We have a very small family, my mom and brother and one aunt ( DH has no family, he was adopted and his dad has passed and has no contact with his adoptive mother). The gifts my mom gets DD stay at her house (very lame and a completely different issue) so the only gifts she will get to play with at home are what DH and I get her because my brother and aunt buy clothes. I want her to have a nice Christmas without going over board, so please critique my purchases. I just want to make sure she isnt short changed due to our lack of family. So far I have a loving family dollhouse that comes with a mom and dad and baby, the loving family mini van, a doll nursery thats a crib and high chair in one, a baby doll thats face moves like a real babies, a horse barn and horse for her loving family people, a mr. potato head, a memory game, a melissa and doug magnetic princess whose outfit you can change, a set of 4 minnie mouse wooden puzzles, a book and a play doh sundae making set. Every thing I have gotten has been on sale for a really great price, I started shopping months ago, so I haven't reached our budget yet. Is this enough? She is my only child and we dont have to buy gifts for very many people either. Thanks! BTW she turned 2 the end of sept.
Re: How many gifts are you getting your toddler for christmas?
She is getting:
1. An easel with a roll of paper and paints/brushes
2. A wooden train set from IKEA on a board that can slide under the couch (THIS)
3. A quiet Book (THIS)
4. A stick horse (Actually a stick Unicorn, haha!)
5. A tin of colored wooden beads with some cords and pipe cleaners for jewelry making
6. A fairly large stack of books
7. An apron and chef hat
And in her stocking she is getting:
1. A set of trainer chopsticks (She always gets made that she cant use them when we get chinese)
2. Some lacing cards
3. Box of Hello Kitty Bandaids
4. Toothbrush
5. A skinny book
6. Some snacks
I am making the things in bold, so were only actually buying a few things.
We got her a KidCraft dollhouse and some stocking stuffers. I may get something for DS in his stocking but that's about it. We have a large family in the area so they're pretty much set with gifts.
I think for the time being there's no need to stress about this. Your DD's only 2. She won't have the capability to keep tabs on how many gifts/toys she got this year. It's you that will feel this disappointment.

DS who is 4 got
Leapster 2, toys story bath toy, Dr. set and that's it so far. We are going out Friday to find him a couple more things.
