Need a sound voice...Baby B not doing well...

Hello Ladies-I was so happy to find out that my husband and I are expecting twins however, I was told by my OB that baby B's fluids have decreased from last week. He said he has concern that there could be something wrong. (I go every week since I am high risk).

Has anyone else had this happen and what was the outcome? I just really want the truth... I am tearing up while typing this because these babies are a miracle to my husband and I. We didn't have to try fertility treatments this time around which is amazing in itself. Baby A is developing just fine with great fluids etc.

Any straight forward information would be truly truly appreciated.

  • How far along are you?  Have they offered any potential treatments?

  • This may sound really stupid, and it's probably not a solution at all. But I went in for a BPP a few weeks ago and my fluid levels were on the "low end of normal" for each baby. My mfm told me to stay insanely hydrated because sometimes it helps. I've literally had a glass/bottle of water attached to my hip 24/7 even at night, and my last two BPP's showed perfectly normal fluid levels.

again this is probably no solution, but hey it can't hurt right? it can only help you. i am so sorry you're going through this. i've come to realize being pregnant with multiples is so hard emotionally because you're insanely worried about not one but two babies, and since you know you're high risk....it definitely plays on your nerves. best wishes to you, your husband and your babies. i am sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

I havent' been through what you're going through and I'm so, so sorry that you are. I have done a ridiculous amount of research on everything I could possibly ever have to worry about and what pp said about drinking a ton of water is something I have read over and over with the result being good. THat being said, without knowing the cause of your low fluids, that could just be a futile effort but it definitely won't hurt anything!

Keep us up to date and best of luck to you and your babies.

No matter what I will know I tried all that I could...I will let you know how my appointment goes next week its on Wednesday at 8:00am. It means so much to me to have you ladies give feedback. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and I will be back next week with an update.

  • Try not to feel too stressed - 7w is very early - our techs weren't even advised to start measuring fluid levels until the 12w mark with the NT scan unless they looked obviously over/under normal size. Stay hydrated, and know that you are in good hands - being monitored once a week means they will do their best to fix anything they catch. All you and your doctors can do is what you each know to do, and the rest is up to your body and the baby's cells.

  • I'm sorry your first appointment has made you so freaked out, understandably so.  I was also told to keep crazy hydrated, I have never drank so much water in my life.  I didn't have the same situation, but I have also heard that keeping lots and lots and lots of fluids going in can be a very good thing.  Good luck mama, I hope it all comes out well!

  • Sorry to hear about your OB's concerns...that's so tough. As others have already said, it IS early and a lot can still happen so definitely try not to lose hope yet.

My story... our twins were conceived via an FET, but in any case, our baby B was half the size of our baby A and our RE told us that baby B more than likely would stop growing just by the looks of things. They were measuring about 10 days apart by week 6 and stayed that way for weeks (up to 12 days apart at one point with B being about a week behind where I was in my pregnancy). In addition to the huge size difference, B also had low fluids surrounding her (didn't know a gender at the time of course). Our RE never told us that we'd for sure lose Baby B as he had no way of knowing that, but he definitely prepared us for the worse just by the looks of things and his experience.  Anyway, after 5 weeks in a row of preparing ourselves to see that we'd lost Baby B, our 11 week u/s showed that B was suddenly on track size wise (still smaller than A and always was through the whole pregnancy) and her fluid levels looked better too.

...and well, my babies are 13 days old today! Hope that encourages you.... thinking of you. :)
