Do I need a new daycare or am I over reacting?

In the booklet daycare gave me it says they require me to give LO food three times before they can give it to them there. So, when I go to drop him off today the "lead" lady in the infant room asks me if she can give him some stage 2 foods another mom brought in. I look at it and it says turkey, gravy and sweet potatoes. I tell her I have not given meats yet and her response was "well, I'll only give it to him if he runs out of the food you've brought in" I said.....ummmm no thats ok. Then, I find out one of the daycare workers was sick last week and now LO is getting sik too! So, I hand him over to her for the day and as I am signing him in I see her sit him on the floor and kick toys over to him with her FOOT!!!!!!!!!!!! That he will probably put in his mouth!! COME ON PEOPLE!

    I feel like I have talked to the director SOOO many times about concerns of mine but it never goes any further than that! I keep hoping my concerns will be heard and something will be done but it never goes any further than that. I hat to change daycares because it is so close and even if I do change....what if I have the same problems?

    Start looking for a new daycare. Stop in to different centers WITHOUT an appointment to see how things are run when they aren?t expecting a potential client. Also speak with the directors and ask about the situations that you have already been in and what their policies are regarding those topics.

     

    The toy and food incidents are not okay and I would speak to the director about it again. However I would not tell them you are looking for a new daycare center.

    you need to feel comfortable at your daycare and obviously you are not. If you are doubting them everytime you drop LO off there, it's time to shop around.

    Kids should never be fed others food and they should address your concerns.

    Giving him another child's food? Not okay. Without your consent? Simply unacceptable. There are soooo many reasons it's not okay. This alone would make me look.

    Then they put him on the floor and kick toys over? Find a new center NOW.

    We just switched daycares this week for similar reasons. I was happy at first with the center but saw more and more things I didn't like and made the switch. The price doubled but you get what you pay for and I am so happy with the new facility. Good luck and go with your gut!

    And these are the things you know about!  I'd hate to think what may happen when you aren't there.  I mean, if they are comfortable kicking toys to your child in front of you.....wow.

    ok, so sometimes I even get mad at the care that DH is providing because its not exactly what I would do.  Then i chose to stop and think....what would I do if it wasnt me at home with my DD. lets say I have another kid (someone elses) or lets say someone else has my kid.  then I reframe my ideas.  what do I expect?  what would I do?  then if it doesn't feel right, I know somethin has to change!!! If if feels better than I know its ok, even if someone isnt giving my child superb care.   So I guess my statement for you is what would you do?  and how would you react?  and then dont settle for less

    Thanks everyone. I toured two different daycares yesterday and was really impressed with one of them and we are seriously considering it. But, it is SO much more expensive :( but I am willing to pay it if it means I am happy with the care DS is getting! Thanks again and hope all have a Happy Thanksgiving!
