Anyone's LO use a pillow yet?

I think that C might be ready.  He has a crochet blanket that he wads up and puts under his head.  I think that he might enjoy a pillow.  I don't know where you'd buy a small, flat pillow, I guess I could make one.  What do you guys think?

  • We gave DD a pillow when she was about 16 months.  We got her a nice flat one at Ikea.

  • I know, C moves around too.  I just feel bad that he's always scrunching his blanket to use as a pillow.  Maybe I'm just overthinking this.

  • Give it a whirl!  P moves around alot at night and he sleeps on his tummy with his butt in the air - it's the cutest thing.  He does have two blankets he sleeps with and some nights he uses one as a pillow too.

  • We are not using a pillow yet and I have no idea what the best age is to introduce one. I know that DS wouldn't keep his head on it for longer than 5 minutes when he is sleeping. A quick internet search says you should wait until they are 2 to introduce pillows but I am not going to flame you if your DS enjoys one sooner.

  • Smit, I've heard that as well.  Well, maybe I'll throw in another blanket, like Wilson does.  God knows we have plenty of baby blankets.  Although getting a pillow gives me a nice excuse to visit IKEA...

Smit, did you get your DS those play IKEA utensils?  Too bad you lived so far away, that would be fun to go to IKEA with you.

Uh oh, I feel like a creepy internet stalker right now!

  • Lo uses a pillow.
  • I'll bring DS into my bedroom with me while I get dressed and he ALWAYS wiggles off the pillow that I prop him up with.  He likes to lie flat.

  • We use the pillow that came with his playmat/activity mat.  It's like a teeny tiny flatter boppy.

  • I noticed that he loved resting his head on random pillows. He has his own now.  It's an adult pillow, just a flat one I had around the house.

Chunstad, you are not a creepy internet stalker but it made me crack up! I did get DS the IKEA pots and pans with the utensils and I also got him the IKEA basket of veggies. I think he will really like them.

DH and I were talking about going Christmas shopping in Seattle one weekend if we can manage it. Of course the first (and maybe only) stop will be IKEA!

It would be a blast to go shopping with you and I always wish you lived closer too. I don't have anyone to go shopping with so I always make DH go with me. Poor guy.

  • Ds has had this flat baby pillow since he was about 4mths old as i was worried about him getting a flat head.

When he really started to wriggle about he didnt really use it that much as a pillow but he still likes it in his crib.

He really loves my V shaped pillow tho. It protects his head from banging up against the end of the crib and also gives him some pillow on either side to grab and snuggle up to which is how he sleeps most nights.

He normally wriggles down a bit, but this is him having a summer siesta

  • L has a little baby pillow that she started using around 10 months. It's so thin that it's the equivalent of nothing but since we bought it she's stopped rotating in her sleep and keeps her head on it, so I guess it feels different to her. She hates being on our pillows.

  • In the living room, DD will pull a pillow off the couch and put here head on it. In her crib, she tosses and turns a ton and usually ends up on her stomach with here butt up in the air. I'm thinking a pillow would be in her way.
