I think my LO may be starting to transition from two naps to one, but nothing I'm trying is really working. Maybe we're just having a rough two weeks, and everything will go back to two peaceful naps soon.
Has anyone transitioned from two naps to one? How did it go? How did you know it was time to change? When did it happen?

Baby Boy #2 is on the way!
Same here.... sometimes she only takes an hour nap and then she is super cranky by 4.
DD is still taking two naps a day. There was about a week(ish) period about two weeks ago when she was fighting both naps. I thought maybe she was transitioning to one nap, but she was still tired at her usual times. I read that they can fall into a regression around 12 months that can last for 4-6 weeks, then they are basically back to normal and not to take the regression as baby moving to one nap. This made sense for us, personally (obviously every baby is different). I just knew DD wasn't ready for one nap quite yet.
I have noticed that she wants a longer time before her first nap and her first nap is getting shorter the last few days. It may just be a fluke and she'll go back to her two hour nap in the morning (right now it is about 45 minutes or so). I am just going to keep following her signs and see what happens.

same here! What's up with that? I thought she'd move her nap to more mid day, but she's still tired about 2 to 2 and half hours after she wakes up. Goes down for a nice hour and half to two hour nap and then won't nap again. Just started that this week. Hmmmm.... It will be interesting to see what she does when I'm on my Thanksgiving break and am home with her. Poor daycare lady this week!

This is what's been happening with us. DD's been fighting her naps lately, and sometimes skipping them or shortening the afternoon nap to only 30 minutes (after fighting it for 30 minutes). I am eager for her to switch to one longer nap, because it would make my day so much easier. However, when I tried keeping her up a little later to have an early afternoon nap, she completely fell apart about 30 minutes after she normally would go down. I consulted my sleep bibles and I'm at a loss of how to help her, so I thought I'd ask here. Hopefully it's just a phase and we'll get back on track soon.
Both of these for DS! I thought he was going to be ready for one nap because they were getting shorter and he wasn't falling asleep until after about 20-30 minutes of playing in his crib, but he is back to taking 2 naps. He'll come over and crawl in my lap and put his head on my shoulder when he's ready.
DD takes 2 naps. Most days.
For a long while we were on the 2hr/3hr/4hr wake schedule where I was sort of rigid on the 2/3/4....to the point that nap times were falling all over the place. If she took decent length naps, it worked great, but if one or both naps went short? Ugggggh.
Now naps are more or less scheduled at 9am and 2pm. I do flex them a bit if she seems tired, previous wake was late/early, etc, but more or less I follow this schedule and it has worked well for DD and restored a bit of scheduling sanity for me (when to schedule appts, when we can meet with people, etc...).
The one wake "rule" I do try to follow is not keeping her up more than 4 hours before bedtime. Her bedtime is usually no later than 7:30, but if she wakes from her afternoon nap early, I usually move bedtime earlier to compensate.
Oh, and FWIW, her naps are usually 45min-2 hrs....usually 1-1.5 hrs. And her afternoon nap is usually the longer one (yesterday was 2 hrs! yay!!).
This :-)
