Pregnant after 35

am I expecting too much?

Since being told that I had a positive AFP screen I haven't heard from my midwife. The MFM tells me every time I talk with them they will let her know what we discussed so I guess I was expecting at least one phone call saying she is sorry to hear the news. Am I just being overly sensitive?

Re: am I expecting too much?

  • I personally don't think you are being too sensitive.  She definitely should call in this type of situation.  I hope she just hasn't called yet and will.

It would be nice if the doctors, midwives etc. did offer condolences at least in situations like this.  I'm sure that some do but not all.  After my last loss I called my RE and left a message letting her know but never even got a call back.  I had just graduated the previous week and I was kinda hurt she didn't even call.  I understand your feelings and it sucks, I'm sorry :(

  • If I were s in yourhoes I would feel the same way.  I feel like she should have called to offer support and let you know that she knows what is going on.  Hopefully you will here from her soon.

  • No, you are not expecting too much. I am sorry she has not called you. Hopefully she will soon. I guess it is a difficult call to make, but they are professionals and they should make the effort for their patients.

  • I don't think your expecting too much at all. Unfortunately I've found that sometimes even the most adept professionals don't really know how to handle these types of situations. I hope she reaches out to you soon.

  • I don't think your expecting too much. You need the help and support of your provider in time of need not when everything is going well.
  • I don't think you're being overly sensitive.  I think she should call you personally, at least once, in this case.  When I had a miscarriage, my OB was great and called me a couple of times to see how I was doing.  You shouldn't expect less.

  • No you are not expecting too much.  These people are supposed to be professionals and if they cannot call you with the situation you just had then in my opinion they are not professionals or human beings.
