Re: ~*~Infant Check-in~*~

  • Hello!
It's been a rough few days with me going back to work full time. I don't know if its coincidence and she is just going through a growth spurt but DD has been fussy during the day/ fighting naps more than usual and not eating as well for her afternoon feedings. Also very tired! I hate leaving her but she is with family. I really hope she is just going through a growth spurt not reacting to me not being with her, makes me feel guilty for working.
Honestly my favorite thing to do with her is talk to her! I love chatting with her and her respond with her coos and cute noises!!!

  • No real milestones, he has been smiling and "talking" a little for about a week now.  The biggest challenge is just getting used to life still, haha.  I'm trying to get out for walks or go to the store to feel less trapped, but I wasn't expecting such an adjustment for me...I thought it would feel more natural I guess.  Also, always a challenge to get my pumps in when I want, the boobies are often over-full by the time I get to pump.

gtky: he doesn't really do much yet, right now I just soak up the snuggles and smiles.

  • Hi ladies! No milestones this week. We did see the dr for G's first shots. She did well and is a whopping 13 lbs 3 oz as of Thursday!

I love talking to DD, and I love when she smiles...her whole face lights up! But bath time wins. I take her in our big bath with me and just hold her head so she can float. It's so cute! I love watching her kick and splash. She kind of goes crazy :] And Rusalka, you inspired me to seek out a pool to go to with G. We will go Saturday. I didn't even know we had a heated pool nearby!

You're doing the best thing you can to take care of her! *hugs* I'm sure she's just fine.

I still feel trapped sometimes, too. Going about your life with a baby is just so different!

  • Not much to report this week that I didn't spam the board with already! DD had another random 4 a.m. wake up last night and insisted on being fed... the funny thing was she was in her bassinet just "talking" really loud. She is one verbal gal for how limited her vocabulary is at present.

My challenge this week is mentally preparing myself for the holidays. I just need to relinquish a little control, because I know there's nothing I can do about the way our families behave, and everyone means well. My dad called me today just to rile me up asking if he could give DD sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving, and I feel like I need to make some kind of announcement so people don't sneak and give her food because it's cute. I am not the best when it comes to letting things go... to the degree that I will psych myself out before they even happen when they're not even guaranteed to happen!

I'm with Charmed, I love talking and singing to DD. She'll coo and gurgle right along with me when I'm singing. I also really love wearing her... when she's asleep it's the most comfortable and natural thing just to have her close to me.

  • Milestones: DD now has the power/dexterity to push the buttons on her jumper to make the songs play!

Challenges: After 8 nights of almost no sleep for me, I figured out that the problem was that she had outgrown her Zantac dosage for her reflux.  Increased the dosage and sleep got better!

Funny stories: I've been cloth diapering for 4 months now and yesterday was my first poop-splosion up her back.  I'm not sure how much of it was user error - if I didn't have the prefold tucked all the way inside the cover - or if it's because she's outgrowing the size small prefolds & Thirsties size 1 cover.  Cleaning it up was gross.  At least I have larger prefolds & covers on the way cus MAN is she growing!  There are outfits that fit last week that suddenly don't fit anymore - quite a growth spurt!

GTKY - Favorite thing to do right now is probably still making her smile & laugh.

  • Hi ladies!  I've been super MIA for awhile, just been caught up with preparing for DD's christening over the last month or so, but we just had her christening on Sunday and although it went well and she looked adorable, I am so glad it is over!  I'll post pics when I have them.

Any milestones this week? So far no new milestones this week.

Challenges?  DD is pretty easy going, but she is not always the best napper, some days it is a 2-3 hour nap, whereas others I can barely get her to sleep 30 minutes to an hour.  She does much better though when she has at least one good nap, but she is mostly a cat napper.

GTKY: What's your favorite activity to do with your LO(s)?I love talking to DD, like PP's have said.  She loves when I imitate her sounds!  I also love to dance with her.  Every night when I make dinner or wash the dishes, I put her in her bouncy seat and turn on the radio and I dance and she gets all excited and kicks her feet, she loves it!

  • DS tried to sit up last night!  I had him propped up in the boppy and three times he tried to lean forward.  It was really cute.  He managed to do it, but his poor little back isn't strong enough so he just ended up slumped over.  I thought it looked terribly uncomfortable, but he was delighted with what he had done and couldn't stop smiling.

Challenges- Being at work has been tough, about once every other week I have to be away for 24 hrs.  I miss my little guy terribly and don't think I will ever get comfortable being apart that long.

GTKY-  I love to play on the floor with him during tummy time.  It is so much fun to see how much stronger he gets every week.  Now we roll from from to back and from back up to side, he hasn't made it all the way over yet.

  • Milestones: Lexi has gotten really good at sucking on her toes! Yum! She's also been spinning herself around on the ground. If I lay her down, with in a few mins her head will be where her but just was. She also loves talking to our dogs. She'll hold her hand out and one of the dogs will lick it and then she'll giggle. I'm glad she's learning to love them as much as we do!

Challenges: Two words... Yeast. Rash. Ugh! I just want this stuff gone! We've been doing anti-fungal cream, lots of diaper free time, and sanitizing like crazy. Every time it starts looking good, the next change or the next day it looks awful again.

ETA: I forgot the GTKY! I love just being around her. I like talking to her and helping her stand or sit on my lap. I like showing her new things around the house or when we're out and about. I just love everything!

  • Any milestones this week? Challenges? Funny stories?  My LO's milestone, is that he's two weeks today! ?  So he has his two week checkup this afternoon, and I am so excited to see how much he weighs, because he is a little glutton ~ as for challenges, he's been on only formula for the last three days, and I think it's making him gassy, and then the last two days, he's been spitting up more, too.  I'm going to ask the pedi. if we need to switch to a "sensitive stomach" brand, or if he's just adjusting.  As for funny stories, my Mom joked that we'll be posing him next to the turkey for Thanksgiving to see how big he is.  I bet he'll be bigger ;D

GTKY: What's your favorite activity to do with your LO(s)?  Just holding him to my chest.  I love the bonding that comes with feeling his breath against my skin, and hearing his little coos in his sleep.  Of course, he's already getting spoiled and only wants to fall asleep on my chest . . . but at least he's starting to let me put him down after he's been asleep a while ~

  • Hi ladies!

We don't have a real milestone this week, but DS has been really trying to reach his stuffed snail hanging from his bouncer bar. He could care less about the stuffed turtle. He also does fist bumps with DH, which is awfully cute.

Also, after 2 weeks of green poop and block feeding - yellow poop! Yay!

We've had a minor challenge getting him to take a bottle at daycare (he disapproves of bottles) but he did better this afternoon and took two 3-oz bottles. I might need to keep an eye on the amounts they put in his bottle, as I told them 2 oz every two hours; he never goes longer than 2 hours without nursing when he's with me. He also has a stuffy nose (we're all sick) but he has been a trooper.

GTKY: Like lots of PPs, I love making him giggle. He is such a happy little guy and it's so rewarding to see him smile and laugh.

  • Hi ladies!

Our milestone this week is our first family photo. Well, I guess there was one during her newborn photos at the hospital too. But, today we all got dressed up and went to take pics for Christmas. They turned out cute, but I don't have them yet to post.

Our challenge is still weight gain. We've been offering formula after breast, and she's been taking it. In fact, she's been taking 3 oz bottled BM instead of 2 oz lately. It's come back down some over the past 24 hours, so I think it was a growth spurt. Our ped appointment is in the morning, so we'll see how it's going.

GTKY: My favorite thing is just holding her curled up on my chest. She doesn't stay that way as long as she used to, already, and I don't want it to go away!
