Toddlers: 24 Months+

How much milk does your 2-3 yr old drink?

Just curious, because my 2 year old doesn't drink that much anymore. The only way I can get her to drink it, is in a bottle! I've tried sippies, cups with straws and so on.

We've gotten rid of the bottle, but I noticed she stopped drinking milk. So I'll be lucky to get a cup of milk in her a day.

I've tried suplimenting by increasing cheese and yogurt intake... but she's not so found of that either. :/

So how much does your little ones drink?

  • Hardly any.  He will drink it at school with lunch, but other times its harder.  Here are a few things we do..

-bribe:  he gets 3 bottle caps (a willy wonka candy he loves) for making a "happy plate" and then drinking all his milk

    -cheese/yogurt

    -OJ with calcuim

     Good luck!

  • DD has never put down the suggested amount of milk for her age.  She eats plenty of cheese, yogurt, etc. so I'm not worried about her calcium intake.  She'll be 3 in Jan. and she's been drinking about 10 oz of milk/day.
  • He reduced his milk intake a lot about 6 months ago for some reason. I'm honestly not sure how much he gets at school (can't imagine it's a ton), but on the weekends I'd say he *maybe* gets a cup/8 oz. He eats cheese and yogurt and has a pretty balanced diet in general, so I'm not worried.
  • My daughter will literally drink ONLY milk unless I do not give her a choice. I try to limit her to 3 8 oz glasses a day.

  • My son loves it. Usually 2 10oz sippies a day plus yogurt.

Im not even sure what the recommended amount is. Off to google.

We have this same problem. My daughter is a milk addict. My doctor said to limit it to 3 or 4 8 oz glasses a day. It's hard to get her to eat when she drinks so much. Dairy is never our issue. She loves yogurt and cheese too.

Yep my kid could live on dairy and carbs. She is not a picky eater by any means but she would choose cheese/yogurt/milk/bread/noodles over anything else. I try to not offer any of those choices until she eats something else that is being offered.
