Intro / Identicals have TTTS

Hello everyone.  I never introduced here, because I kept saying, oh I'll wait until the next ultrasound to make sure very thing is okay... Well, here I am, and everything isn't okay,

Last thursday, at my routine OB appointment i was informed that at my last ultrasound they had trouble finding the membrane, so they wanted me to see an MFM.  i got an appointment that same day, and they confirmed they were mono di.  I was then referred to Columbia, and I had my appointment there today, and while at only 15 weeks, I don't have an official diagnosis, he thinks that by the time I come back on Wednesday, we'll be at a stage II.

I know none of you know me yet, but I'm just so worried and scared for my babies, so any thoughts and prayers you can share would be soo appreciated.

thanks ladies <3

  • Congratulations and welcome! I would highly recommend contacting Mary from the TTTS foundation as well.as Dr. DeLia. They are both very knowledgable.and very supportive (i think his number is on the ttts foundation's website, but Mary will definitely have it if is not)(i.know.it may sound weird to.randomly contact some.doctor that is not.yours, but he is amazing). The other thing i would recommend is to start drinking high protein boost or ensure (high.proten versions, not regular)(siipping slowly throughout the day...drinking two.or three a day) and staying off.your feet as much as you can. I really believe that approach is working for me currently....and maybe it won't do anything to.help, but it can't hurt anything,, and there are TONS of people that swear by it)(i am now.one.of them). It also.gives you the option to DO SOMETHING. If.you have any questions or want to.talk about it, let me know. It is.incredibly scary, but i am glad.your doctors are on.it, and there are good.outcomes all the time.
  • congrats on your twins, i second the high protein shakes.

  • I agree with every thing Pixiem said. Also, you mentioned Columbia, do you mean Columbia Presbyterian in NYC? My doctors are at Cornell and we were almost on our way to CHOPS in philadelphia due to early signs of ttts. If you are in the Ny area, definitely consider going for a consult at CHOPS, they are experts in treating ttts.

I know this is scary and I am so sorry anyone has to go through this, take it one day at a time. Sending you lots of thoughts and prayers.

  • Hi there. My boys were diagnosed with TTTS when I was 16 weeks along, stage 3. I was rushed from Hawaii (where we were living) to Califonia for emergency laser surgery with Dr Schmidt at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. Because of the 5 hour trip back to the island, I was also given a cerclage as my cervix started to shrink (they were not sure if it was because of the flight over, or the surgery.) The twins had no other issues following the surgery, and I was induced at 37 weeks, 1 day. They were over 5 and 6 lbs each. I don?t know much about the protein shake some of the ladies mentioned, just wanted to let you know TTTS does turn out ok sometimes. Blessings to you and your twins.
