I'm sorry that I have so many questions today.
LO is 12 days old; we use PFs/cover during the day and change him every 2 hours. However, at night, we let him sleep 4 hrs at a time before waking him up to change/feed (he's EBF). Our usual time is change/feed around 10pm; change/feed 2am, change/feed 6am.
We only started CDs about 4-5 days ago. We use a fitted bumboo w/cover for the 10pm change, then tinytots AIO for the 2am change.
When we change him at 2am, the fitted bumboo is always completely soaked w/urine, and there's usu poop as well (no leak). It doesn't seem to bother DS but is it bad that he has all this wetness on his skin for several hours? We're thinking of using a disposable at 10pm so he won't be as wet...
What do you use for your newborn overnight? Just wondering if what we're doing is wrong and what would you suggest we use instead.
Re: Newborn overnight options
We usually use pockets at night for my 8 month old but she's gone 12.5 hours in a prefold and cover with no problems.
I use a pocket diaper at night with bamboo insert and bamboo booster. She's been able to go about 6 hours without a leak. So maybe if you did this you could also skip your 2am change and just do the feed since you LO probably isn't that heavy of a wetter just yet.
Please forgive my ignorance. I have a bunch of BumGenius liners - are they fleece liners and can I use them in this situation?

Are you talking about the inserts that came with your pocket diapers? If so, no - they are microfiber (not fleece) and are definitely inappropriate to use in this situation. Microfiber should not be placed directly against skin - it can cause irritations.
You can, however, use them for additional absorbency by placing them inside your diaper cover (so the fitted is between your baby and the insert).
You can use any stay dry diaper, or line any diaper with a fleece liner. You will want to continue to change your LO whenever they wake up or feed ON until they stop pooping.
We used PFs and covers or fitteds with fleece liners during the NB stage. We still use fitteds with fleece liners and covers now for 12+ hours.
