T&Ps for my cat

Casey, my cat (the inspiration for my screenname and you might recognize him from this photo that used to be in my siggy:

Anyways, he vomited blood this morning and he's at the vet now getting checked out. I'm all kinds of nervous. He's only 6 years old but he has had some health issues before in the past. He's actually a transvestite. Have I shared that story here? Anyways - we have plans to leave town this weekend after Thanksgiving and now I kind of want to cancel them because I am afraid he's going to die alone while we're gone. I'm probably overreacting since the vet has not even diagnosed him with anything yet. But if you have any T&Ps to spare, I would appreciate it. He's my first baby and the idea of something being wrong with him... Crying

    I am so sorry to hear this about your cat. I will keep your kitty in my T&Ps and I hope he will be just fine. Maybe he just has an ulcer or something that can be easily fixed. If he still isn't feeling better then maybe you could board him at the vet so they can look after him and give him any meds he needs. That way you could still go out of town and know he is getting good care. Best wishes to you and your kitty.

    Oh no!  I'm sorry about your kitty.  I'm not sure if you have ever shared his little story here, but I could be wrong.  He'll be in my thoughts.  You aren't overreacting, pets are part of our family.  Maybe you could only leave town for the night, or you could have someone stay at your house so that Casey can stay home and comfortable instead of being boarded somewhere?

    The vet is closed for the holiday weekend, so we wouldn't be able to board him there. But I am sure we could find some other vet or pet boarding place to take him in if we had to. Unfortunately we can't go for just a night - we have plane tickets and everything (taking Monday off too for my husband's 30th birthday that day). I think my husband might kill me if I say let's cancel his (last minute) birthday trip because I am worried about my cat. But I am worried about my cat! :(

    And the back story on my transvestite cat: four years ago, (and only two weeks away from getting married and going on a 2 week honeymoon), my cat decided to stop eating. And then he started peeing blood so off to the vet we went. Three catheters later, they told us he had a urinary blockage, and the only way to save his life was to have surgery to cut off his penis and make a "vagina like" opening (vet's words, not mine) to help unblock him and prevent future blockages. So now he's a "girl". Good thing Casey is a name that works for a boy or girl ;)

    I'm sorry.  Is it possible that you can get someone to stay at your house with kitty while you are gone so (s)he can be more comfortable?

    Everyone we know locally is going to be out of town for the weekend. Ugh. Wish the vet would call me soon and let me know how he's doing.

    I hope your kitty is ok and I hope you get some good news soon. I would hate to have that kind of stress about leaving your animal home alone when they are not doing well :(

    Update: they only got the urinalysis back, still waiting on the bloodwork but he does have a uti. Which doesn't explain him vomiting blood but he hasn't vomitted since I dropped him off. They are keeping him overnight to monitor him. He hasn't peed or eaten. :

    Sorry to hear your cat isn't feeling well. I hope he gets better soon, and the vet has some answers for you tomorrow.

    So, no answers as to what caused him to vomit blood. He hasn't done it since he did it last morning. He and ate peed last night, his bloodwork came back normal, so minus having some antibiotics for his UTI, they are saying we can come pick him up and take him home. Looks like I will be boarding him this weekend so someone will be able to give him his medicine. Poor cat - vomits blood, gets harassed at the vet, and now is going to be forced to stay someplace strange for three days and have a pill shoved down his throat every day. Hopefully he will forgive me! LOL!
