DH's gift idea :(

He killed my idea!  I had finally thought of a great gift for him from J - I was going to get them matching pocket knives (J's being a little smaller) and engrave them with "Daddy" and "Son" or something like that.  I just thought of it on the way home yesterday, and was going to look and order them today.

We were eating dinner and talking about Christmas presents, and he said "Remember how I said last year I was going to get him a knife each year?  I decided I'm going to wait until he's older and he can help pick it out".

Dammit...I told him the idea I had and he felt really bad.  Oh well, I guess it is more of a gift that he should pick out for them, and not me.

Back to the drawing board...

Re: DH's gift idea :(

  • Argh!  Just found another awesome one, and it's over 2x our limit.  Why is he so hard this year?  He's going to end up with clothes and movies and that's it lol.

  • I'm sorry, I haven't even started to think yet.  Boys are hard to shop for!

FWIW your idea was fantastic and I am totally stealing it in the future Big Smile

  • starting a traditional gift is a great idea. Can you do it with a different item?

I'd like to, I'm just not sure what yet.  If I really get my stuff together I'm going to order my Cameo and some heat transfer vinyl and make them shirts or something.

  • If he's into sports or a specific team, you can pick up a collectable card or signed baseball for a decent price. It is something that he can share with the little man and give to him when he gets his first home or whatever. H has several signed baseballs he can't wait to put in Q's room.

He is the only man I know that isn't into sports lol.  He's not someone who can easily be type-casted into saying "He likes beer" or "cars".  He has interests in those types of things, but nothing that is so die-hard I know exactly what to get.

Off to keep looking!!  Thanks for the idea :)

He wants to get back into hunting (tried to last year) and has everything except a good ammo bag, which I'm giving as an idea to his mom or brother or someone.  No sports or games.  He loves Mustangs (the car) and his Ford truck so I'm going to look and see if I find anything there.  Maybe I can find a kids book or something with those in it...long shot, but worth a look.  He also just started his business, so maybe a hat or a polo with his logo on it?

  • I like the idea of the vinyl shirts, like that pg mom on the craft board. Is there a title of a champion hunter you could do on DHs then Future champion hunter something on Js.

Maybe an RC mustang car. He and J might have fun playing with it together.

    I'll keep thinking.
