Hubs and I had decided to tell BIL/SIL that we didn't want to exchange gifts anymore. (including for the kids) Well, hubs had the bright idea to put it off until Thanksgiving, since that's "when we'll see them next. [he] doesn't think by phone is the best way to do it".
Well, that little plan backfired, because I got a text from SIL Saturday night asking what size Aria wears, saying that she's buying gifts online and needed to know. (which was random. The chick hasn't spoken to me at all in 2012, but she can text me?) Awesome plan, hubs, awesome plan. Ugh.
Hubs is still going to tell BIL that we're only buying for kids from now on, because it's really just exchanging money when we buy for each other. (and BIL gets me a Hollister gift card every year... Including last year.... when I was ginormously pregnant. Sorry, brutha, ain't no way that any of *this* is fitting into any of *that*.)
Anyway, to end my ramblings... I can easily buy for my nephew (who is 5, and who I see via his mother) and the baby, who will be 7 months this week. However, I have no idea what I'm supposed to get BIL's step-daughters. We've only met them a handful of times, so we have no idea what they'd like.
What do you get 9 y/o and 4 y/o girls for Christmas? Help?
Re: Help a sister out? Re: gifts for 9 & 4 y/o girls
Walk into any Justice store (if you have them around you) and get them each a shirt.
My cousin has two girls (10 and 7) so they are right in that range and love shirts that sparkle. Justice is great and easy. Just get their sizes and you are good!
If that doesn't work, visit Claire's and get some cute jewelry/nail polish/hat/etc. Honestly, my little cousins LOVE all that - and they aren't super girly.
For the 9 year old, maybe something from Aeropostale? Last year they had a sale where everything was 50% off and hoodies were like $10. That's what I bought my cousin and she's now 10 and into VS PINK now! For the 4 year old- my 4 year old girl cousin wants dress up clothes. Or, I would just buy a little outfit or something.
Or maybe a little "purse" for the 4 year old with fake lipstick, mirror, etc. if she is girly. If not, not sure?
We'll probably have to do this... either that or the Justice thing. Even if I got them something they weren't crazy about, they could return it, right?

Gift Receipt! They are magic!
A gift card would be cool. One of those ones where you can spend anywhere. It's a bit impersonal, but you can't really go wrong!

Thanks everyone! You've given me so many more ideas than what I had a few hours ago!

This year we are getting my 9 y/o niece bath and body works products. She's into the bath gel, body spray and lip gloss. Last year we got her a diary and different types of pens...like those gel pens. She has an iPod so we've done iTunes cards for birthdays. My 5 y/o nieces are into Hello Kitty, anything that involves crafts like making jewelry, hair accessories and Barbie movies. Good Luck
