If you've gotten your tubes tied, have you had any negative side effects, etc? My SIL, a physician's asst said not to get it done b/c she has so many patients that have neg side effects. But DH isn't gung ho about vasectomy & this is my 4th c/sec so I'm DONE. Also, was your recovery any worse?

what side effects? I had a tubal done after my last c-sections and I dont recall them going over any side effects except the general ones w/any surgery. I had no issues at all btw

I'm getting it done. My doc is just snipping it - there are no side effects from that.. simple stuff.

I had mine done about 2 years ago during my CS. No recovery issues, no side effects. I actually had an easier recovery from the planned CS at age 39 vs. the emergency one at age 25.

The only thing I have noticed is that since I no longer need hormonal B/C my periods are heavier and a little more irregular. I am 41 so the irregularity can probably be attributed to that. My periods were almost non-existant when on Nuva-Ring. I am talking not having them to lasting one day. Now they last about 3 days.

I hade my tubes tied in March and every single period has been a nightmare. My periods aren't heavy but they are very painful. I'm having the mirena put back in next month. The other options given were to burn the uterine lining or to remove the uterus.

I had it done in June with no side effects. I haven't had a pp period though but my periods have always been heavy and painful die to endo. I'm most likely getting an ablation once my period comes back.

I have several friends that had it done. Only one has had heavier periods and even then she said they are not terrible.

I had heard this too so I asked about it. My OB said that basically it's from the fact that most women who opt for a tubal do so to go off bcp long term. So say for instance you've been on bcp since you were 18, and now you're 30. Your periods and hormones are different as you age, so it's not the tubal that does it it's just what's normal for you at 30 which you don't know b/c you haven't experienced a "normal" cycle since you were 18. He also did 2 clips b/c he said that he actually had 2 failures when he was doing one, and hasn't had one since he started putting the extra clip in there.

I had mine done when I had DS2 in Oct and I ebf and haven't gotten a period yet. I remember with DS1 I went on bcp at my 6wk appt and my first few periods were still pretty painful and heavy (got it for the first time pp after he dropped a feeding at around 4mo). After having them for a few months it started to even out. The OB that did the tubal though said that taking a low-dose pill to ease the symptoms would be ok if I needed it. Hopefully I won't b/c that defeats the purpose of the tubal.
