Babies: 0 - 3 Months

If your dc had "stork kisses" or "stork bites"

Have they faded? My little guy has a dark stork bite on the back of his neck (no big deal, his hair will cover it) and a pretty dark stork kiss on his head (you can see it in my siggy - right between his eyes!). Doc said they may or may not fade - I've never known any babies with them.

Re: If your dc had "stork kisses" or "stork bites"

  • My SIL had one and they finally had it removed when she was 8, so I guess they do not go away. Sorry that I cannot speak from personal experience but that is the only story about them I know!

  • the kiss faded a bit, but his stork bite hasn't really.
  • C has one on the back of her neck. I had one in the same spot as a baby.

I love it. I hope it never goes away.?

  • Yup, DS had them on his eyelids and the back of his neck, they're gone now.

  • My DS also has one on the back of his neck under his hair. I think it's started to fade a little

  • I have a friend who has a niece with a LARGE one on her face (hers is called a hemangioma, right between the eyes, not sure if this is the same thing). It has faded over time, but will probably need surgical attention in the future. Is the stork bite the same as a strawberry mark? I have a strawberry on my butt and it has never faded away.
  • It has faded and you can really only see it when he gets worked up
  • DD had them on her eyelids when she was first born and on the back of her neck. The ones on her neck are still there but her hair is starting to cover them up, and the ones on her eyelids faded away, I never knew baby's got them either. DH had them when he was born so guess that's where they came from.
  • Someone posted about stork bites/kisses the other night and I had to google it. LOL Anyway, it said if they are on the face they typically fade by 18 months, but if they dont they can be lightened w/a laser (youch!)

DD has a stork kiss on the back of her neck and the article said that they do not usually go away, but are covered by their hair.

  • one on her eyelid, and in the middle of her forehead.  both are still there, slightly faded, and really show when she fusses.

  • My DS is 2 years old and we actually just went this week to see a pediatric dermatologist about his. He was born with ones on his eyelids, back of head/neck and a large one between his eyes/up on his forehead. The eyes faded, the head/neck ones are still very red but covered with hair and the forehead one has faded a bit, but not much. It gets REALLY red when he's hot, has a fever or gets upset/cries.

We had been told it would fade by age 2, which is why we went to see the derm. He said that we should just continue to watch it and that by school age (5ish) it should be gone. If not, we could have it lasered. But to do the laser, they have to put the kid under anethesia to keep them still. It takes about 30 pulses of the laser to remove. The derm also said to make sure I use a really strong sunscreen on him (obviously you can't do that until baby is older).

  • DS has one on the back of his neck and one on his left eyelid.  The one on his eye has faded but does get redder when he's crying or tired.  I think the doc said it should go away by the time he's 3.
  • DD has one on her eyelid and I think it's faded, but it really shows up when she gets mad/cries. She also has it on the back of her neck.
