Activity Mat stuff

My awesome SIL has given us a bunch of great second-hand baby gear. One of the items is an activity gym. It's pretty cute but it's also pretty basic- just a mat and two padded bars that cross above. I was wondering what else I should get to add to it to add interest for LO. The activity mat I was originally going to get was one of those kick and play ones with a vertical board babies can kick and get music to play. But I really have no idea what to add to make it interesting enough for a baby...

    A baby safe mirror is helpful and encourages tummy time.  Feel free to use whatever toys you have around the house: hanging chime animals, Lamaze Freddie or Jacque are popular, O-ball, plastic chain links, rattles.  Even though our mat had a lot of bells and whistles on the mat itself,  DD mainly liked to be on her back and bat at the hanging toys.
