For those that have taken their LOs swimming:
Did/does your LO like swimming?
Does your LO like bath time?
Our DD hates hates Hates the bath. But I love swimming and want to take her soon. I'm hoping she'll like swimming with mum more than bath time but I'm interested to hear your experiences.
Re: related to LOs swimming
Ds2 loves baths and showers. He had his first swim lesson last week and cried so hard we cut it short after 15 min. Other factors may have been involved, he was tired and probably hungry and my H swam with him since I'm not cleared for swimming yet due to surgery I have had. I'm hoping our next lesson goes better. I should be cleared in about 2 weeks to swim
I asked my pedi when to start swim lessons with James. He suggested waiting until he was 18mo. He said he wasn't going to learn to swim and would just swallow a bunch of water and that wasn't good for him. He said I could take him in the pool and hold him or put in in a baby float while staying near him but he didn't suggest submerging. We waited until this summer for swim lessons, 1.5 years.
"I will show you the kind of big sister I will be..."
oh, i didn't mean taking her for swim lessons. i just wanted to take her in the water with me to splash around. although i taught swimming lessons for years, i'm too cheap to pay for lessons for my kid when she's this small.
i should try bath time like that. the risk of getting pooped on is high though with our DD...
We haven't done any swimming, but this summer I definitely plan to get him into the pool. I feel like he's so little now that he can't really understand it or anything.
He doesn't LOVE baths, but overall, he'll allow a bath. I feel like with each bath we get better, unless I bathe him when he's already fussy (which sometimes I do just to get all of the fussing over with and after we can just snuggle until he goes to sleep). Usually what he hates is the drying off/lotioning portion of the bathing ritual. I think he just gets a little cold during the process, even though I try to keep him warm.
The other day, he threw up ALL over me and himself, and the fastest way to get us both clean was a shower, so I showered with him, and he was upset from the throw up (poor baby) but he seemed to like the running water.
Vroom, vroom.
