Why do you need to do anything? Are they really bothering him?
DD1 had major reactions to them when she was almost 2, she was swelling up a ton, then scratching until they were raw all night long. The pedi prescribed hydrocortisone to use before bed and said to use it sparingly and use an antibiotic when they were raw/broken open. That was better her 3rd summer and we didn't have any issues this last summer. DD2 seemed relatively unfazed by her mosquito bites.
"Do nothing" would be a valid answer. I was just wondering since he hasn't had them before. Most of them weren't bothering him, but he was reall scratching at one on his knee. I'm afraid he's going to scratch too hard and break the skin and make it worse.
As a kid I remember some of my friends' parents using calamine. Other than that, we never put anything on mosquito bites, so I guess I won't be putting anything on my kids' either?
DD and I are both mosquito magnets. They seem to bother me a lot more than they bother her. On the occasions that she was scratching a lot, I would apply a teeny tiny amount of hydrocortisone cream, and that seemed to relieve the itching for her. But I only used it when she was actively scratching.
