Traveling Poll

How far will you be traveling this Thanksgiving? Will it be by car or plane or even train?

 

We will be visiting my family since our families are on exact opposite sides of the state. We switch every holiday. We'll be driving 2 1/2 hours Thursday and I hate it. I know it's not a long drive but there's always so much construction and it messes with DS's naps.
But it will definitely be worth it!Smile

    We aren't, and I am sooooo excited! With the except of the few years we lived on the West Coast, we always travel for holidays. Depending which state we were in, it was anywhere from 3hrs to 14hrs* to visit one of our families. This year we're staying put and having a few family members come to us!

    ETA: *Hours are driving time. We have a "if we live in the same region we drive" rule :)

    Going to my Gram's for lunch.  She's a 12 minute drive from our house.  Then dinner with DH's family.  His aunt's house is 15 from ours but opposite direction from Gram so it'll probably take 25-30 minutes to get there.

    We will be driving 1 hour to my brother's house. The whole family always has thanksgiving there! I can't wait!!!!

    We are headed to my grandparents house about 1 hour 15 min away. It used to be a 3.5 hour drive -- I am so glad we moved closer!

    We drove 6.5 hours, from Illinois to Ohio, to see my husband's family. This is only the second time Carter has been here, because the drive is annoying, so it's nice.

    We drove at night, so he slept the whole way here. It worked well, except he thought it was time to play when we got here at 2:00am and wouldn't go back to sleep until 4:00am!

    We'll go to my H's grandpa's on his moms side of the family Thursday. It is an 1 1/2 drive. Saturday we'll go the his grandparents on his dads side of the family. It is 15 minutes away.

    About 30 minutes for Thanksgiving. That is a travel time that I can be happy with. It's Christmas that I'm scurred for.

    Two hours south to ILs.  Then an hour back north to my sister's, then an hour home.  It sucks.  We hate it.  We would rather stay home. Boo.

    11 hours to IL.

    Then we get to turn around and do it again at Christmas. Yay!

    We travel 30 mins to my parents house.  We *might* consider traveling to a set of ILs next year but we'll see.  Fortunately they are willing to come to us for xmas this year (and last) so I'm in no rush to schlep on a plane with N to rural VA or upstate frigid New York.

    We'll be at my SIL's and then my mom's on Thanksgiving. Each are about 15 min.

    We're taking the kids on a mini-vacation Friday through Sunday, though. We're headed about 4.5 hours away (by car) for that. So excited!

    We're driving 1.5 hrs to DH's aunt's.  We also switch every other holiday...his family is 1.5-2 hrs away, and mine is 15 mins away.

    We are driving about 45 minutes to DH's cousin. I have to work until 3 pm so I will meet DH and A there when I get out. Then Sat. we are going to my parents' to see my family. They are also about 45 minutes away.

    We are going to my Mom's so is a 40 minutes drive. My ILs are coming with us since they live like 15 minutes away from is so most of my family will be together :smile:

    We'll be driving to my in-laws, they live about 1.5 hours away. It's not too bad of a drive, but it would be a heck of a lot nicer to have them closer.

    We'll be going to my parents' for Christmas and it is about a 2 hour flight or 14 hour drive. We will be flying.

    We stopped traveling a few years ago. The drive is way too long to do twice in such a short amount of time. Our families will sometimes come here. My parents did last year and h's parents are this year.
