I have this on my hands & it's horrible. I can't get an appt. w/ the dermatologist for months. Can anyone recommend a home remedy, diet changes or something OTC that might help?

I used to get awful dry skin on my hands (not necessarily eczema), and I would lather them with vaseline and put on a pair of gloves before bed, and that would help a TON..
DS has exzema on his cheeks (ped diagnosed it as such), and she told us to put vaseline on them 2x a day.. they are already much better!
I've had eczema most of my life (& DS has it now as well)....it was severe when I was in 8th & 9th grade-so very tramatic, as well as itchy. I actually had to use steroid cream back then.
For me when I'm not KU I use OTC hydrocortisone cream, an unscented lotion (any will do), white dove soap (old derm recommended), and oatmeal baths if it gets too bad. I cant use the OTC cream now so I'm just moisturizing well & hoping I don't get any patches this year. As an adult I've been pretty fortunate to only have it maybe once every year or 2. Unscented products seem to be my lifesaver and seem to keep things away. You may want to switch to a FREE laundry detergent as well.
For DS Aveeno eczema cream seems to be clearing things up.
