I know this girl is!! But in all seriousness, who's going Black Friday shopping and for how long? The problem with me is that I get real achey now standing for too long and I am worried about the pains I will have from standing in line. I suppose I could sit on the concrete (which I don't have a problem with) but do you think maybe some good shoe inserts would help matters at all?
Oh, and does anyone plan on starting at 9PM and going all the the way through the morning as well?

Re: Who's going Black Friday shopping??
I work at Macy's as a bridal consultant, so fortunately I don't have to be in till 3pm and it's treated like a normal Friday for me (woot!). But you're right, it's sad and pointless. Last year when they opened at midnight, the associates that worked it said it was slammed at first (like people running in to the store), and then it was dead until like 5 am. I don't see how they can be making enough from 12-1 to justify paying people to stand there for four hours without any customers. And even though we don't open till midnight, as opposed to this 8pm crap that other stores are doing, the people that are working at midnight have to try to sleep on Thanksgiving Day to be able to make it through the shift. Sucks.
And a friendly reminder to all that plan on shopping: be nice to the associate/check out person. If you have a problem with crowds or waiting in line, don't go shopping on the busiest shopping day of the year, and don't take it out on the people that work there.

This is me too, there just isn't an appeal. I don't care when they open though. While in college, DH worked at best buy and Black Friday was an opportunity for him to make extra money and he never missed out on any family activities. Plus, I know a lot of people do it together as a family.
All that said, I'll just stick to Internet sales shopping. Still lots available!
I think if there's a specific deal you want, maybe try convincing someone else to go for you? I couldn't imagine standing or sitting around for that long and honestly the huge, sale-crazed crowds make me a little nervous. Personally, I'm planning on staying warm and cozy in bed, and sleeping in for the first time in forever...but if DH decides to venture out, I might give him a few ideas.
Good luck if you do decide to head out!
Count me as someone else who just doesn't get the appeal, especially now that there are so many online deals. I'll probably be up early to shop, but it will be from my couch in my pajamas with my laptop.
I also hate that some stores are open on Thanksgiving and forcing employees to cut their own holidays short.

Dh and I are, but we're not going for any "big ticket" items and both items we're after go on sale at 8pm so we won't be out long and should be able to miss most of the madness. Walmart has a Little Tikes kitchen we want to get LO5 for 50% off and TRU has a Train Table we want to get LO4 for 50% off as well.
I am also part of the crew that does not understand the appeal, especially now that I am pregnant.. I know my SIL basically camps the night in front of the store. I remember last year (or maybe it was the year before that) I saw in the news that some pregnant lady was knocked down and injured during the mad rush of the store opening and some employee got trampled and was in critical condition? Please be extra careful if you decide to venture out during the mad store opening...
My sisters are die-hard Black Friday shoppers! They will work out a plan of action. I go along just for the fun...sometimes I find good deals...some years I just help them in their quest for the best prices. lol
I always stay the night at my sisters house on Thanksgiving and we pour over the ads and work out the plan.
It is a tradition in my family...would not miss it for the world!
