Toddlers: 24 Months+

stuttering

My DD has been talking in sentences for quite a while, but just this past week or so she's started stuttering at the beginning of a phrase that she'll utter. She repeats the same sound over and over before getting out everything else she wants to say.  Everything I see online says it's normal for toddlers and could just be a phase.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: stuttering

  • DD1 has been doing this a lot. She'll get stuck on what ever the first word of her sentence is. Once I counted, and she said the word 18 times before getting onto the next one.

She was doing it a lot a while ago, then moved out of it for 3 weeks or so, and just this week has started doing it again.

  • This happened with us about a montha go (DD is 2.5) it was really bad for a week, then slowed down, then came back, and has slowed down again. We notice she does it worse when she is tired or excited. We happened to metnion it at her 2.5 appointment, and pedi said is very normal, and they wouldn't really wory about it until closer to 4.
