Similac sensitive

Does anyone use this formula or have you? And what experiences have you had on it?

Re: Similac sensitive

  • We use Similac Sensitive and we also put one drop of Little Tummies gas drops in the bottle.  DS seems to be doing really well with this formula and doesn't struggle with gas or bowel movements like he did before we switched to Similac.  He didn't do well with the Enfamil Gentlease or the Gerber sensitive one.

We switched DS to sensitive from advance on Thursday so he hasn't been on it long. He does seem to digest it better though and he has not been fussy and screaming from gas pains the past few days.

this is why we switched as well. It's only been a few days too, but today was a rough gas passing day so I am hoping its not getting bad again. Just wanted people's opinions even though I know every baby is different :)

  • What I've learned about formula is that what works for one baby won't necessarily work for another and vice versa. My Ds was having stomach issues on enfamil newborn so we switched to similac sensitive. He had a really bad reaction to it and was having a lot of gas pains so we immediately switched back. We are now using the enfamil soy formula and trying that out for now. You may have to go through a few formulas before you find one that your Lo tolerates/ likes. Good luck!

  • We have been using it for a little over 2 weeks now. Lo was doing great (minimal spit up and no gas) the first week, but he is now having some bm issues which I think is causing gas issues since they can't easily pass. I've been told by famiy and friends that this can happen in the second week after breastmilk (had to stop cold turkey) and it will take a little time to adjust... I'm just hoping it gets better in the next day or 2.

  • We switched from advanced to sensitive last week. My LO is on Zantac for reflux and dr said to start Zantac and then wait a little while and see if it helps, and then if I want to try change his formula for spit up etc I could but to change things one at a time. His fussiness got better with Zantac but the spit up was still horrible. Poor thing was covers every time he ate almost. So I had two sample containers of sensitive and we have gone through both. He went the first day with it with 0 spit up and was happy as a clam. It's been almost a week and besides the typical spit up he's doing good. Idk if anyone else has seen this but sometimes his formulas a little chunky when he spits up. Like he has flecks of white in his mouth. He's having normal diapers. He's down to one dirty one a day. Mentioned it to the dr last time before we switched formulas and he said its normal. With the sensitive he's been going a little over 24 hrs btw dirty diapers. But in comparison it's night and day for us. I had to go out and buy more burp clothes bc we had to get a new one for every feeding.
  • We had a bit of a weird experience. We were using similac advanced and switched to sensitive because of gas. LO actually got worse gas and had a bad reaction and we had to switch back to advanced. We are now using advanced with gripe water and have had no problems.

what kind of bad reaction? This is why we switched per the pediatrician a recommendation and at first it seemed to be working but now he screams out in pain when trying to pass gas, he can't pass it for hours, and bowel movements have declined dramatically. I hate seeing him like this even though I know it takes time for a formula to work sometimes I am not sure what to do
