June 2012 Moms

for those who use cloth diapers....

Have you started solids yet? If so, talk to me about how your washing process has changed......do you dump the poop in the toilet? Use a sprayer? Use a different wash cycle?

We CD about 50% of the time. Right now we just dump all the dipes in wash, cold soak, then hot wash with cold rinse, then extra cold rinse cycle. No problems so far. DD is just on breast milk right now. We'll probably add some oatmeal to her diet next week. Just trying to be prepared for the big girl poops

  • With DD, we used to just either shake it out into the toilet or rinse it in the toilet. Back then, I didn't know about diaper sprayers. With DS, we'll probably get one of those for when he starts solids. Right now, he's still on just breast milk and our routine is the same as yours.

  • Oh, forgot to add, we always used biodegradable liners. That helped a LOT with the solid waste. Most of the cloth barely got soiled when we used liners.

  • Our plan is to use liners.  I asked for a diaper sprayer for Christmas ;) But as of now our routine is the same as yours.  But when we start solids in a month or so we'll use liners and spray off in the toilet.

  • So far the oatmeal has made it super easy to plunk most of the poo in the toilet. I have also been washing disposable wipes and using them as liners b/c I ran out of the flushable kind. The wipes work okay but aren't as long so they don't catch as much. I'm hoping to avoid using a sprayer b/c DH is leery of them.

  • We use liners while we're traveling, and we bought a diaper sprayer. Theres a seller on Ebay that the CD board sent me to and I got my sprayer for $24! So when we're home I spray them, when we're out I use the liners.

  • Thanks ladies! I have liners, but haven't used any of them yet. I'll look into sprayers.

  • We haven't really started solids yet, but one of my friend recommended this and said it worked amazingly for her (she just flushes the poop into the toilet):

  • For the in-between stage I used to just use TP to remove what I could.  DD tends to do almost all of her stools in the potty so I'm hoping that will continue once she starts food.

Oh cool, are you guys doing EC? Do you have a baby potty or do you just hold her over the toilet?

yes :) we do both but I love the baby Bjorn potty.  I need to buy more of them so that I can stop transporting one from the house to the car everyday.
