NY and NJ Bumpies (NBR)

DH and I want to find a fish market in either NYC or NJ...pref Northern NJ if possible. We're looking for whole fish right off the boat type of fish markets.  Any of you all know where we can find these and what the names are?  If none in NJ, can you recommend a NY fish market dock place?

Somebody once said there was one in Englewood, but a google search has proved fruitless for me.

TIA!!!

  • hi my family always buys their fresh fish for christmas eve dinner in newark i think its either on broadway or mt pleasant ave. you have to get there early because they sell out quick. they come right in the big bins filled with ice its pretty cool.

  • My family has always gone to Keyport Fishery, but I don't know how Sandy affected them.

Besides the fresh fish, they have AMAZING fried fish platters..with tartar sauce, fries & coleslaw... mmm so good.

  • If you go to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, there are several seafood shops that have them. Arthur Ave is the original Little Italy. It's AMAZING! We go every year right before Christmas to get ravioli, cheese, sausage, etc. Bring your appetite and stop for lunch/dinner! Mario's is our favorite. :

  • Thanks ladies!!  I didn't even THINK about the fact that a lot of them got destroyed.  That's so sad.   I'll definitely look into the ones you all recommended and see if they're still there.
