We will have 2u2 in late spring and are starting to look at purging and purchasing some new gear for the new baby. I'd really appreciate any input or ideas that could be shared. I will definitely not be up for running random errands to pick things up! I think that we will need...
...a second booster seat. We didn't use a high chair with LO#1, just the Fisher Price Healthy Care Deluxe booster, which we loved!
...a carrier/wrap for smaller newborns. We have an Ergo but I didn't like the infant insert with a summer baby the first time around. I'm looking at the K'taan. Any input on these? I borrowed a Moby once but failed miserably to get the thing assembled without rolling myself in it on the floor.
...some kind of double stroller. We currently have a single BOB and a cheapie umbrella stroller. Double BOBs seem really heavy and bulky to take anywhere, even the farmer's market. The Joovy Ultralight gets good reviews, but will my 2 year old still want to nap in the stroller? Or will those days be past? The City Select seems luxe but is it worth the money? (DS#1 is tall; how long will he fit in in?)
...a new infant carseat. We love our Britax convertible with a passion, but does anyone have recommendations on infant carseats?
Are there things that I am missing? Poor #2, a life of hand-me-downs!
Re: prepping for #2
As far as stroller goes, i can only tell you that my almost 23 month old still likes going for long walks in her stroller and routinely falls asleep in it. If you use the stroller for long walks or tend to spend a lot of time out and about I'd defnitely prefer the option of letting LO be able to lay back. Maybe look at the city mini double too?
I have the city select, bought it a few months ago bc I saw an awesome deal on ebay and it gets such great reviews. It is ok as a single- a little bulky and heavy for long walks. I'm expecting #2 when DD will be 28 months so I'm still not sure what I'll do as far as second seat, etc. Its nice to have the option of either and the whole thing comes apart easily so its nice for storage or fitting into a trunk.
I have an Ergo and a moby. I think you'd still have problems with body heat with the moby or any type of carrier in the spring/ summer.
For an infant car seat, I love my Chicco keyfit. Also, britax infant seats are supposed to be nice. if you end up with a britax seat they have a few double stroller options that are compatible with their seats.
I'll be 2U2 as well this spring. Like PP said I am looking at the City Mini double, but I am also considering getting a Graco umbrella stroller (mainly because I won't be going out much with the 2 of them together early on-so my frame and current umbrella strollers would work most of the time).
I will be using our infant seat again. It was the Safety 1st on Board Air 35. It held up very well with DS, was easy to install, and like the Chicco was one of the top pics on Consumer Reports. The only reason I went with it over the Chicco was it got a higher crash test score rating and as a bonus it was assembled in the US (some Safety 1st are made in the US, but not all so be careful). Here is the review on carseatblog.com:

FP has another seat that is mainly a booster I am looking at:

Our table at home is a bartop, so we will probably need to get a new table soon.
One thing I did get for DS was a bigger playyard. It has been a lifesaver so far & if you don't have one I would get one. My mom has the Graco one, but I ended up only being able to find the Delta one & I love it just as much as her Graco. They both have the animals on them & LO loves them.
I'm still looking at the other stuff too....so I really can't help you there. Good Luck!!
