Has your LO been able to sit up by his/herself? DS will sometimes go for it, but usually finds his feet and goes for those. I want him to be able to sit up on his own!
DS can do it for maybe 5-10 seconds on his own and then TIMBER! One of us is always right there and we just "practice" with him and have one hand lightly touching him so he can work his muscles. I figure one of these days he'll just start doing it longer and longer. When he is laying on his back, he lifts his head and shoulders...assuming he is trying to situp on his own? Maybe this isn't it but it looks like it and it's so cute because he gets frustrated and then we hold his hands and help him sit up and he's happy again.
DD can sit up for a while and can sometimes even catch herself when she gets really excited and starts toppling over, but she hasn't completely mastered it by any means!

Both...but he can definitely do the tripod longer.
