Tampons

I just bought a box of O.B.'s for the first time and seriously don't know why I haven't before. There are about a thousand in the box for the same price as twenty applicator types. I'm sure when I was younger I would have been squeamish about inserting it but now that I'm an old pro about pushing things in and out of Mrs. Hamburger...thanks Penny's Audrey...it's definitely NBD.

So am I the last person in the world to discover this?

  •  After the level of injury incurred during childbirth, I would be shocked if I could even keep a tampon in now.

  • I have been using them for years and love them! Especially since I can carry two in my pocket and it looks like a think of Chapstick....so easy to hide! Only problem is now that my period has changed after having Gator, I have to use Ultra for the first few days and you cannot find them ANYWHERE. I got my sister hooked on them and then there was a shortage in the Seattle area. She called the company and they apologized and said there was a shortage everywhere. Weird. A week later she went to Canada on vacation and they had them....she brought back 15 boxes. When I was in Germany they were cheaper and they had Ultras. I told my friends there to send me tampons and I would send them PB MM's.... Since they don't have them. Ha!

  • I have bought OBs but I don't have the coordination to not use an applicator. Plus I sometimes have a super heavy flow and it can be clotty. I don't want my hands up in it.
  • Here a box of 60 supers is 8.50. My frugal side rejoices.

  • wish I could use a tampon.  TMI but last month I was changing super sized pads every 1-2 hours, no way a tampon would ever work.

  • Glad you are happy with your new discovery OP. I never thought about how much cheaper and more discreet they are. I'm not grossed out at the idea of inserting with no applicator, but I just don't feel like using tampons anymore. I can't really explain why, they just seem uncomfortable. Im still trying to like my diva cup and might try other cups or softcups or something.

  • Funny story...when I was in the US for the first time, they didn't have obs in the hick town I was. Now, I had no clue what to do with the applicator kind and couldn't really make it work. So I had to talk to my coworkers about tampons and ask that they would help by asking their wives/daughters. Not bad? We were recording an album with a southern rock band. Yeah, just the kind of people my 20 year old self wanted to share period talk with. Of course, that was before having kids and having people stare at my crotch regularly. Today I would not care.

Still, I did not have a period since Nov 2010. I could go on like that.

that sucks! you need to try a Diva Cup, it can hold a lot!

I suck at tampons, always have.  I can barely get an applicator one in there good, no way I could do the OB's but props to you that can!

  • I can only use the cardboard applicators.  I can't even work the plastic, let alone applicator-less tampons.
