Post your Thanksgiving menu below, either what you're making or what you hope to have if you're going to someone else's house. This year it will be just MIL, Hubster, Sophie and me, so we'll be doing the traditional menu, just on a much smaller scale. It looks like a ton of food, but I make half portions, and we tend to start eating around lunch, pass out, then eat some more. We will be having:
Turkey - if MIL gets the free turkey from the supermarket, then the whole bird; if not, then just a breast
Dressing - it's not stuffing if it's not stuffed in the bird - and lots of it, because Hubster can't live without it
Mashed potatoes - because I can't live without them
Giblet gravy
Sweet potato casserole - excellent breakfast the next day!
Green bean casserole - fresh, not the Campbell's recipe
Acorn squash soup - insert Homer Simpson drooling sound
Cranberry spritzers - we don't do cranberry dressing, but I make a cranberry simple syrup and mix it with seltzer
Pumpkin pie
Re: What's your Thanksgiving menu?
Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Dressing
A massive amount of gravy
Green bean casserole
Sweet potato casserole
Cranberry sauce
Rolls
Pumpkin pie
Buttermilk pie
My mom is making the dressing and pumpkin pie, MIL is making the GB casserole. I'm making everything else. :]
I want:
Turkey
Stuffing and dressing [my mom makes both]
Mashes potatoes
Gravy!
Sweet potatoe pie stuff. I'm not really a fan but I want to give it to DD!
Rolls.
We will be at my mom's (lunch, about 20 people) and my IL's (dinner, about 15 people) that day. This is what I know we are having at my mom's:
turkey
ham
mashed potatoes and gravy
stuffing
green bean casserole (from scratch, I am making it)
corn casserole (from scratch, I am making it)
sweet potatoes
veggies and fruit (my sister has some food allergies, so this is for her)
rolls
pumpkin pie
pecan pie
angelfood cake (my grandpa is diabetic, so my aunt makes one from scratch)
IL's menu will be similar. I am making the same things for their dinner.
We are going to the ILs. This is our first Thanksgiving there. I asked DH what his mom usually makes and he said:
Turkey
Stuffing
Gravy
Hashbrown Casserole
Green bean casserole
Sweet potato casserole
Cranberry sauce
Rolls
Pecan pie
Pumpkin Cheesecake (DH is making)
I think it is just wrong not to have mashed potatoes, so I might have to make some. Mashed potatoes and stuffing with gravy are my favorite part of the whole meal.
Here is our menu...
Streuseled Sweet Potato Casserole

We host my mom, my ILs, and my BIL. We are making:
cider brined turkey
mashed potatoes
broccoli with lemon juice
rice stuffing (b/c I can't eat regular stuffing) with fresh herbs, onions and celery, dried cranberries and apricots, and chestnuts
a bean casserole (not green beans, legumes. it's kind of like super gourmet baked beans)
ocean spray cranberry sauce from the can, b/c H loves it
pumpkin pie and apple pie
We're going to my grandma's for lunch, where the menu will be:
turkey
dressing
gravy
mashed potatoes
saurkrout
various vegetables
dumplings
German potatoes
pumpkin pie
pumpkin roll
Then we are hosting the in-laws for dinner at our house. DH has not given me the menu yet so I can shop for everything. He will be doing the cooking. I will be having wine. And lots of it.
My Mom makes the turkey, a ham, stuffing, gravy, she even makes potato salad.
Then the family will bring other sides, like a baked rice, cheese and broccoli dish, the mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, the sweet potato pie, home made biscuits, my grandma orders all the pies from bill millers and she always gets 3 apple, 3 pecan, 3 pumpkin, 2 dutch apple and 1 coconut cream pie. My other grandma bakes a fresh apple pie and pumpkin pie as well.
turkey- whole bird
sweet potatoes, VERY sweet potatoes haha
rice and gravy because my dad is strange
sausage, cranberry and apple stuffing (in the bird and probably in a separate dish too)
crockpot mac and cheese
a dessert that our German guests are bringing that is TBD (it's their first American Thanksgiving!)
eta- forgot the cranberry sauce
We are hosting my husband's side of the family this year and I'm so excited! I am making...
Turkey, gravy, cornbread dressing, squash casserole, Hatch chile mac-n-cheese, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin streusel pie.
My MIL is bringing rolls, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, and pecan pie.
Hosting for 12 family members at my house. We're having:
Organic free range turkey smoked by my bro
Vegetarian field roast (I'm veg and so are my mom and one bro)
Homemade vegetarian dressing
Onion gravy
Mashed potatoes
Green bean casserole
Trader Joe's cranberry sauce
Slow cooked candied yams
Rolls
Apple and cherry pie, pumpkin pie, cream pie and lemon meringue pie
My dad is strange too! He won't eat the potatoes, he ALWAYS makes a little pot or rice for him. Rice and gravy and hot sauce are the base of his meal.
We're doing the actual holiday with ILs, but we host a Thanksmas for some friends every year. This year, another woman spearheaded the planning, so it's mostly pot luck.
One couple will supply and fry the turkey
Another will bring: dressing and salad and rolls
A third will bring: sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes.
I get to make: veggies (so thanks for the ideas) and desserts (so thanks for the ideas).
