If youre wearing a coat... your baby needs one too!

So me DH and my mom went to the towns Jingle Mingle tonight. Its less than 30 degrees out and I had DS dressed in his warm coverall and hat mittens etc... he was in his Ergo all warm and snugly. We went to stand over by the tree to watch the tree lighting when I saw this mom take a 2 month old baby out of the Infant carrier she was in and the baby had no coat, no hat, no shoes no mittens.. nothing but an outfit on. I instantly got so mad. She was holding this baby up to her talking to the baby as if it was 80 degrees outside. Everyone around her was looking at her like she was nuts. This poor baby girl. She finally put the baby into a Baby Bjorn but still no hat, mittens coat etc... I was biting my tongue because I was so mad and I wanted to be helpful, not mean. I gave her a minute to get the hat out if she had one. Finally, a too small hat that didnt even cover babys ears goes on. Thats a little better.... but still no gloves coat etc... I luckily had an extra pair of little mittens in my pocket even though DS coverall has built in hand covers, so I went up and gave them to her to put on her daughter. The babies hands were purple. This poor baby girl... I told the mom "Here, you can have these, they are brand new, she needs gloves her hands are purple and its cold out." She says to me "what, its cold out? I dont need the gloves." I said, "Yes, her hands are freezing, please, put them on her" she finally put them on. I feel so bad for that little girl. She HAD to be freezing. Who doesnt put a hat on a lil thing like that?! Some people. Glad I had the extra gloves though.

    Totally infuriates me when I see this. 

    On the flip side, it equally infuriates me when it's a little chilly, maybe 60, and I see babies completely bundled up with hats, coats and 5 blankets. Are they trying to cook them?  The general population is quite stupid.  

    Ha ha! Guilty. Embarrassed

    We think it's cold down here when it's 60 degrees. And I am cold by nature, so poor E will always be overdressed.

    I hate parents like that. I have a friend who since she is never cold her daughter must never be cold either.

    This is a tough call. DD is a hot baby. She never liked the swaddle, sleeps best in a cool room and sweats if it's in the low 70's. so when we're out and about, I don't bundle her up too much and I wonder if people think I'm letting my kid freeze. However, at 2 months and when other people are wearing the cool weather get up and the poor kid herself has cold hands, it's pretty obvious the babe should be covered.
