Alright, so it has been over a week.. but I just can't tear myself away from the loves of my life!
November 8th (we made it to our scheduled C-section after PTL and numerous scares, praise the Lord above!), we woke up at 4:30am. It was the weirdest feeling knowing that in 6 hours or less, our babies would be here. We got ready, took our last bump shot and headed for the hospital.
The nurses started us in triage where they asked us a million questions, started my IV, etc. When the new shift got there at 7 they wheeled us to recovery where they really got the ball rolling. More questions, met the anesthesiologist, hubby changed into scrubs, my OB arrived and they took us to the OR.
DH was directed to a seating area outside the OR while I recieved my spinal. I was nervous but my nurse and my doctor held my hand the whole time. I thought that was nice
Not being able to feel my legs was the strangest thing ever. It's almost like if you think about it too much, you'll start to panic. Minor details: partway through the surgery I felt like a couldn't breathe and they told me it was normal because I'd lost the sensation of breathing, but I still was... and then I threw up. Anyway, back to the story. So they did the spinal, put the catheter in and I asked if they'd started yet. They said "yep!" and I was like "but my husband isn't in here yet!" they were bringing him in at that exact moment and it was SUCH a relief to see his face.
A few minutes later at 8:35am I heard "Whoa, he's a big boy!" and then a gurgly cry and my heart just lept. Hudson Miles was born at 7lbs 4oz and 20in long. My OB brought him around to the side of the sheet and he was the most amazing, perfect, beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Most surreal moment of my life up until that point. They took him over to the NICU team to be assessed.
At 8:36 I heard another gurgly cry as Henry James was born. He weighed in at 6lbs 7oz and 19.5in long. My doctor then brought him over for me to see and he was equally as amazing, perfect, and beautiful as his brother who had been born just moments before him. That was also the most surreal moment of my life (I have two most surreal moments, ok people??
) They then took him over to be assessed and DH got to go with them.
They stitched me up and brought the babies over to me to touch and hold. I could not and can not believe they're ours.
We stayed in the hospital for 4 days and came home on the 11th. DH drove like a grandpa, much to the dismay of the motorcycle gang behind us. ![]()
