Natural Birth

Ways to support natural birth?

I had a natural birth with a midwife when my DS1 was born. I was hoping for a home birth with my second, but ended up having twins, with pregnancy complications that ended up in a C-section. Barring any big surprises, I'm done having kids now.

I still feel really passionate about natural birth. I wish birth was more accurately represented in movies, that more women knew about their options, that OBs were getting better training for breech births, that hospital policies were more mom and baby friendly, etc. As someone with no medical training and no connection to the field, what can I do now to help, if anything?

Thanks!

  • You might consider becoming a doula! You can google the websites where you can get educated and certified. Even if you didn't want to be on call for births, you can educate at seminars or at the hospital classes for natural relaxation tips during labor. I'd love to do this! GL!

  • I can definitely relate to your feelings.  I have considered becoming a doula or a natural birth instructor, perhaps in Bradley Method or something similar.  Those are just a couple ideas.
