Babies: 9 - 12 Months

First Birthday Gift Ideas?

We just moved to a condo and have more space in the girls' room for a play area, and some empty space in our living room too. I want to get them something like a ball pit (probably don't want that in the living room though :)) or some kind of activity center. I seriously CANNOT wait to make them a play kitchen but I know at this age, they probably won't be super interested yet. Would you wait until 2 or 3 for this?

Any other ideas for an activity center type of gift? TIA!

  • Do you have the FP learning house or learning barn?  They're both big hits.  DS is 3.5 and will still play with it with dd.  If I remember correctly, we got ds the play kitchen for his first Christmas (he was 10 months then) and he grew into it.  We got dd a ball pit too, though I'm sure it's going to be a major mess maker that I will regret lol.

  • We gave our son a kitchen set for Christmas when he was 1 year and 3 months old.  I think it was good time, he played with it that first year and has since. He still loves the kitchen set.

  • Oh I ditto the Fisher Price barn!  I just bought it for DD today.  It was $45 at TRU but I did a price match for Wal-Marts price and got it for $30.  We also considered a nice ride on toy like the wheely bug.  DDs birthday is Dec. 31st sooooo right after Christmas...
