What do you clean LO's toys with?

I have no idea what to use for her teethers? Dish soap is what I've been using. And how often do you boil your bottles? TIA!

Re: What do you clean LO's toys with?

  • I use dish soap on toys that are plastic and don't have batteries. I'll throw the hard plastic ones without batteries in the dish washer when I think about it. Plush toys go in the washing machine.

I only boil bottles when it's the first use. After that, I hand wash with soap everyday and dish washer once a week.

  • Um...I haven't cleaned any toys yet.  I think I better clean some now.

  • I really like seventh generation disinfecting multi surface cleaner in a spray bottle. You don't even have to rinse, yiu can air dry...but I rinse anyway just tone safe: super easy.

I like this idea better than mine. I'm going to pick some up. Thanks for sharing!

  • I bought the 7th generation wipes and use those.

I try to put some toys in the dishwasher or washer but I don't too often...

Bottles we wash in the dishwasher everyday so I don't boil them

  • I wash his teethers along with his bottles, handwashing with dishsoap.  The only time I sanitize his bottles is when I'm lazy and leave them in the sink (with soapy water) for more than a day.  I have a microwave sanitizer that I use almost every weekend....since I'm lazy Friday nights and don't wash his bottles that night.  I don't like how the dishwasher cleans them, as we have hard water.

  • Thanks ladies! My DH has been boiling her bottles 1x week because she was sick. But she's been better for 2 weeks... I guess he thinks I don't wash them well enough. lol

  • Like a PP said, we use the DW for any teethers, blocks, or other things without batteries.  Other toys I clean with an anti-bacterial wipe, and plush toys obviously go in the washer.

We boiled the bottles the first time before we used them, but not since.  At first, we hand washed all the bottles and then realized what non-sense that was.  For us, it was TOO much time.  Not they're all go in the dishwasher.  We also have the medela sterilizing bags, for bottle parts and breast pump parts.  You put water in there and then sterilize in the microwave.  I try to do this with all the bottle parts once a week.

  • Anything plastic goes in the top shelf of the dishwasher.

  • I've never cleaned a single toy. Oops. I will pick up some of the 7th Gen. stuff and do that. Glad I'm not the only one!

We don't use bottles, but I promise I'd clean those if we did ;) lol

  • Nothing, have never cleaned a toy and have no plans to. Unless say, it fell in dog poo or something lol

  • I put the dishwasher safe ones in the dishwasher every night and then the others I use this babyganics spray and rinse it with a damp cloth.

  • Dish soap and a sponge.  DH is more likely to toss them in the DW.  I prefer this over any sprays.

  • This thread prompted me to clean  his toys for the first time in 3 months Embarrassed Whoops.  Good news is he hasn't been sick yet- knock on wood!
