Go to https://magicsanta.ca/homepage.html you enter the childs information (picture, name, age, what they want for Christmas etc.) and santa sends you an email with a video of Santa in his workshop talking to your child/children. We did this for DD last night while we were in the emergency room. She was pretty sad and then perked right up when Santa was talking to her. It was magic for sure. her face lit right up and she couldn't believe that She has now watched the video a million times.
You can use the video to your advantage too. In it Santa gives a challenge for the upcoming year. He kindly but firmly tells your child what s/he needs to work on in the upcoming year. DD was told by Santa to "Pay more attention to your mother." Since he issued that little challenge she has done what she was told quickly and without a fuss. I am sure this only going to last for a few days but I will take full advantage of it.
Re: For those with older kids (Christmas related)
Aww, I'm glad it cheered her up!
I worked with a teacher who looked exactly like Santa. The librarian's son was convinced he was Santa and she brought him into the school each year just before Christmas and her son told this teacher what he wanted for Christmas, etc. and the teacher told him all the things he needed to do for his mommy (she would tell him beforehand about any problems they were having) to show he belonged on the "nice" list. Worked like a charm! Hopefully your Santa video has the same effect for your DD.
