Pregnant after 35

New Here!

Hello!

I have looked at a few posts on this board as well....I am new to the bump, new to being pregnat (my first time) at 38. I am six weeks along with a wonderfully supportive BF and family! While the pregnancy was a shock, everyone is elated and ready to see what this amazing journey will bring! I look forward to getting to know many of you over the inter-tubes! Also, I am extremely active, so getting used to this exhaustion is totally new for me...it is on a whole new playing field! Any timps from runners/climbers out there would be helpful! Thanks!

First Pregnancy...38 and excited! SO is 36 and over the moon as well! Everything is new right now, but sometimes things happen just as they should! Surprise surprise!

Re: New Here!

  • Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy and H&H 9 months to you! I am a runner, but I injured my hip just before I conceived and by the time I felt ready to get back out there, I was so exhausted and out of breath that it flat out didn't work. I have been reduced to walking my dogs an hour or two a day and one prenatal yoga class a week. Sadly, this wears me out just fine. I hope to get back in the game once BF is established.

  • Welcome and congrats!  I've had to cut back on my weights and cardio the past 2weeks due to nausea and fatigue. I'm hoping I can get back on track in a few weeks when I get used to the symptoms.

     Best of luck to you!

  • It is all I can do to work my 2-3 shifts a week. I never used to nap, not even as a kid, but now I nap at least 2 hours a day on my days off. And I'm usually in bed by 9 or 10 pm (instead of my usual 11pm/midnight).

I say nap and do what you can for exercise. I can't even imagine climbing or running right now. On a good day, I can take the dog for a walk around the block or walk up the stairs without wheezing too hard at the top.

Maybe hang in there until this alleged "2nd trimester energy burst" occurs? My exhaustion is only getting worse and I'm coming up on 12 weeks this Tuesday.

GL! And welcome to the board!

  • I think you just have to take signals from your body in terms of how active you stay. My first pregnancy I went skiing when I was 9 weeks, this time around I get out of breathe just climbing a flight of stairs..unfortuntely I'm just as tired in the 2nd Tri as I was in the 1st!!
