Nursing Tops vent

Why are most nursing tops also maternity tops?! I feel like the only nursing tops I can find (besides camis) are made for pregnancy too.  I get the fact that you can wear them for a longer period but they are all either too frumpy or made of the super stretch material that just clings to your body.  They also do not come in XS usually, even though maternity tops do come in XS.

I know nursing tops aren't really necessary, but I love the convenience of them.

Any recs for where to get cute nursing tops (not nursing camis, I have plenty of those)? Or certain styles that you love? I would need a size XS or S.

 TIA :-)

Re: Nursing Tops vent

  • If you have a kohls or gordmans , go there and look for tops that can be pulled down. A lot of styles have necklines that can be easily pulled under bra. Those are what I wear to the office so I can pump at work and not have to bare my belly or wear and top underneath.

I don't know what size you are, but I am very small chested and find it impossible to just pull tops down.  There's nothing to hold the top down, and it ends up coming up and smooshing LO's face and breaking her latch, or if I'm pumping they end up with milk all over them.

  • Oh i didnt think about that. I know my friend is a B and it works because the bra catches the shirt to hold it in place. But I can see how that wouldn't work for everyone. That is just my cheap option version. I made DIY undercover mamas and cant really afford the $40+ dollar nursing tops out there that are "office" style

  • I'm not sure if they come in XS, but I think that they come in S and there are some that aren't maternity at Motherhood.  They are the maternity clothing brands, but not maternity sizes (or at least I don't think they are!)  I got some there when I first started to BF.  Now I mostly wear a tank under a regular shirt.  I like the target tanks.
  • I have the motherhood nursing tops as one option. Theyre super casual but paired with a cardi will work for work. Otherwise I wear normal shirts with a nursing bra and my diy undercover mama shirt i made 6 covers for less than 40.

I kind of prefer pulling my top up with the tank under because it's easier to NIP without a cover and nit feel exposed.

I don't get this problem I pull all shirts down with no problem, I just used the hand I use to help latch to hold the shirt down. Or like pp said just lift the shirt up.

My store only had 2 different styles...one was also maternity and the other was just so frumpy fitting (the tank that they have in 10 diff colors).

    OH well ...the search continues..
