Toddlers: 24 Months+

Bragging about potty training!

On Sunday morning, I told DS that he wasn't allowed to leave his room in a diaper.  He was a little cranky about it but finally complied.  He walked around the whole day, totally naked lol.  BUT he did go on the potty!  Monday- he wore just a t-shirt (no bottoms at all) and did great.  Tuesday I had work and he was alone with DH.... not so great, but he DID go pee and even pooped for him.  Wed, Thurs and Fri he was with my mom.  He gave her a little bit of a hard time in the morning, but eventually did it.  (Problem was that I put him in pull-ups for the car ride from my house to my mom's... i cant handle him peeing in the car seat!!  He just didn't want to change from pull-ups to underwear.)  Today,he has peed several times and again pooped.  I am SO proud of this kid!  Yes, he has peed in his underwear a few times, but I think he's doing great.

We haven't attempted night time yet..... I'm thinking maybe next week since I am off Thursday, Fri, Sat and Sun.  I can start him off on Wednesday night.

Anyhow, I am SO excited for him!!!  (and me... diapers are expensive!  I did not want to have 2 in diapers!)

  • Congratulations!! We waited about 6 weeks before putting her down for a nap in underwear and going out. Now she just has a pullup on overnight. Not sure when we're going to conquer that.

  • Well, DS dropped naps a while ago (lucky us!) so we only have to conquer overnight.  Not sure how easy that's going to be though.... I'm just taking this one step at a time.  So far, he is doing great during the day.

  • I'm always reluctant to try underwear during sleep time.  As long as DD is down to one diaper a night and we're not having any leaking issues, I'm not going to push the nighttime training.  Of course, I say this and then the past 2 mornings she has woken up dry so maybe she's gonna be ready before me.  I would master daytime 95% before I even worry about nights.  Once he's down to no diapers during the day, 1 diaper per night won't even phase you anymore!

  • When is your baby due? DD was fully Potty trained before DD2 was born. She is now fully back in diapers. I never thought it would happen to me. Okay, now I sound like a bitter party pooper. Sorry. Yes, I suppose I am a little. Anyways, be prepared for anything. I hope you have no regressions. It's very frustrating.

  • #2 will be arriving in about 9 weeks.  We have had a few regressions already so I am hoping that this doesn't encourage another one.  I am prepared for it to happen though.  :(

  • Congrats. I waited about a week before I went for the night time. Durring his nap in the day I let him wear his underwear and he never had an accident. Then I realized that he did not pee at night in his diaper. So we went for it. He has not had a single accident since the inital first week.

  • Congrats on the success! With DS1 we went straight to undies even overnight right away and he completely surprised us with how well he did. I think after that first night when he wet the bed 3 times he decided that he'd had enough and has only peed his bed twice since we trained him in June. Your little guy might take to it more quickly than you think he will.
