Hi ladies! Today W is 28 DAYS OLD or a month old. I can't believe it! I promise that by the next check in two weeks[ I am taking next week off do to thanksgiving hosting duties] I will update my siggy. So do your thing. And GTKY: how do you plan to BF during turkey day events? And what other than your LO are you thankful for?
Re: bfing checkin
I plan on hiding away when I need to feed. And waiting till after thanksgiving to introduce a bottle so grandmas won't try to steal my alone time. And I am thankful for my house and being able to be a SAHM to my kids.
GTKY: If it's just women in the room, then I have no problem nursing in front of them. But I'll use a cover if menfolk are around.
I'm thankful for being able to work at home, for my grandma living right down the street, for my grandma being my daycare provider, and for being able to continue EBF Harper - all I have to do is run down and nurse her when she's hungry.
I'll nurse with a light cover wherever is available. We are hosting this year so I'll be at home.
In thankful that I'm able to ebf dd so far. With ds, I supplemented from the beginning and gave up trying to get my supply up after a couple months. I'm also thankful for my great family, for DH's cooking, and where we live.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
Hi ladies! Theresa, I hope your recovery is smooth.
BFing is going well, in spite of everyone in the house getting this yucky cold. Poor DS is a sniffly boy to begin with (bad gene pool for sinuses on both sides), so the poor guy keeps pulling off to catch his breath. Somehow he is still a happy little guy in spite of his cold and the green poop that just won't go away. The first day at daycare on Tuesday went well (sob) and he reluctantly took his bottles. They were laughing at how clear his hunger signs are. I called in to check on him and one of the providers was describing how they were looking at his info sheet and saying, "Well, it says he'll start smacking..." and they looked over at him and he started going smack-smack-smack.
GTKY: We will be hosting Thanksgiving for my side of the family for the first time this year (Mom & Dad, 2 brothers & their wives, one random aunt). I plan on just ducking out whenever DS is hungry and letting everyone else handle things until we're back. He's a fast eater, so I feel no guilt about this.
Thankful....there is so much I don't know where to start. Right now I am thankful I only have to go into the office 2 days per week and work from home one more day. I couldn't be away from them more than that, and I couldn't be in the house all day every day either.
DS2 is just over a week old. BFing is going surprisingly well. I was worried because he had a brief NICU stay so I didn't even see him for hours after he was born and had to pump the first 36 hours until he was ready to nurse, but luckily milk came in earlier than DS1 and he's doing well BFing even though his latch didn't come quite as naturally as his brother's. We are nursing like mad because of jaundice issues so I am tired but so happy he's doing well.
We aren't doing Tday because he is so young and families are OOT. In addition to family, I am thankful for modern medicine because neither of my two boys would be here without it.

M/C Nov 9, 2011 at 11 weeks.... We love you & miss you
I can't believe he's getting so big! You're doing awesome.
Theresa, hope you keep recovering well! And that your DH continues to pamper you
Scooby, love your LO's hunger sign!
And Dot, I'm glad you're making peace with the nipple shield. When we were using one it seemed like there were a number of ladies on the BFing board who'd used it for months and months without problems. Do what works for you!
We'll have been BFing for three months as of tomorrow! Pretty stoked about that. I'm still having issues with righty sometimes, usually vasospasms, but it's worth it. DD doesn't seem to have any problems transferring and that's all I care about.
I actually caved and bought a nursing cover because we have so many holiday celebrations... we're going to three Thanksgivings, and at last count FIVE Christmas celebrations, so I really needed something to nurse discreetly in case we can't/don't want to leave the room full of family menfolk. I probably will want a few moments peace and quiet with DD, honestly, but I figured it couldn't hurt to be prepared just in case.
I'm thankful for my super patient and generally awesome DH. I couldn't have picked a better man to marry and have a family with.
Bittersweet: DD (15 mo) is now nursing 1x a day (morning). Last week I decided to not offer at bedtime since DD had refused that one for near 2 weeks and, sure enough, she didn't miss it.
I hope we make it to 18 mo --- which is amazing because at one time I hoped we would make it to 6 mo, then 8 mo. Time will tell.
GL to you all.

DS is a very chill baby. Up man on waking him up to feed (if he's not already awake a about shout before dinner time. Then, he'll be asleep. For the meal itself.
Last year, I bf DD at the table because she'e had to. Be held and nursed literally every second of the day and night. I ouif by just "put. Her down"
