I bought a JJ Cole BundleMe for DS's carseat, but it seems like he is too long for it as it constricts him from stretching his legs all the way out. Has anyone else had this issue? Could it be I have installed it wrong? (I followed the online instructions as best I could.)

this. Google car seat lady and she has a video on how to do it.
This. Get the "shower cap" kind, like this:
nonsense! I have one in DS's carseat and it is very safe. There is no gap at all between his back and the car seat. The bundle me is not super fluffy so it is not at all unsafe. The straps are still tight. I asked the pediatrician once I saw all of these concerns on here and he says the same thing I did. As long as the straps are snug and there is no gap between his back and the seat, it is perfectly safe.
As far as the question posed here. I don't have that problem since my LO is only 4 months old and his legs aren't long enough for it to be constrictive. Do you have the strap holes lined up with the strap holes in the car seat? Is the seat seam lined up with the car seats seat seam? If so, you installed it right, and your baby might just be too tall for it.

This. Please don't use a BundleMe.
The difference is that something that CAME WITH your carseat has been crash tested with your carseat! Aftermarket products haven't been crash tested.
It doesn't come down to which is more likely to happen. It comes down to how much you care about the possible safety of your child. Sorry to be blunt or snarky but its true. Why would you even chance that? Cover him with a blanket when he's in the seat and he's going to be just as warm as with the bundle me.
ETA- I'm glad you're looking for something different.
*sigh* Your pediatrician is a moron. So is anyone else that thinks this product is safe.
Your child won't get sick from the cold winter wind - he will get sick from exposure to people who are sick.
I understand the frustration in how to keep a child warm in a car seat. We never bought an infant seat and went straight to the convertible. I have become really adept at getting DS in an out of his seat quickly, and having blanket ready to wrap him up when he's out; I tuck it around him when he's in. With a hat and a lightweight fleece jacket (that is, one that doesn't alter the tightness of the harness straps), he would stay comfortable.

My daughter is 24" long and fits fine. How tall is your son?
I do not agree that it's not safe. The bundle me is thin in the back, and even if it completely compressed, since the thickness is less than 1/4" to begin with, your kid can only move an additional 1/4". The force generated by such a small amount isn't going to injure him or her any more. Furthermore, using the bundle me allows me to strap her in tighter than I would if she were wearing a jacket, because she doesn't need a jacket in the bundle me.
