Okay, tell me if I am being over sensitive...

I posted Logans first school pic on fb saying how adorable he is.

My Dad posts- Yeah and the little girls are already chasing him around. Pappy knows these things.

My FIL posts- sports first...no little girls....his Dad could have went D1...he fell in love with Jamie...Wait...good call Pappy...he may get lucky like Justin....a good woman is better.my son is lucky...

Did I just get called out for ruining my husbands baseball career with a nice little sugar coating!?  It feels that way, but like I said in FFFC I am pmsing so I need some rational opinions.  I do love my FIL but this made me think he is harboring some resentment towards me!

    It sounds like a sarcastic comment, but what does past experience tell you? Has he ever said something of that nature?

    I think you might be right. Looks like a round-about passive-aggressive stab at you to me.

    But I tend to take things personally.

    Yea, I tend to take things personally too....

    However, is your FIL a sarcastic person? If he is, you need to remember it's the internet and we can't tell the tone in how people "write". I hope he was just joking, cause that's just not cool.

    Not necessarily.  Once I said something about how DH and I wouldn't be together if he had gone pro because I think being the wife of a pro athelete would be a terrible life.  He laughed and said I would have loved the money.  I shook my head and dropped it, can't argue with a man who thinks I would like money over anything else. 

    This is the only conversation we have had about it.  My presence in DH's life had nothing to do with him not playing at a D1 school so I was totally shocked by this comment.

    Wait...I went back and read it over and over and he did say "my son is lucky" and it seems like he chose the better of the 2. So maybe he was just joking around

    Agreed.  I guess just knowing my FIL does not actually think anything in life is better than going D1 makes me think the last part was BS.

    Hmm, I didn't read sarcasm but it took a few minutes to understand it. Whether he is sarcastic or not, I would take it as a compliment and tell him you are glad that he thinks his son is lucky. It would take the wind out of his sails while making you look good to everyone else.

    It sounds like your FIL has no filter on his sense of humor. Kind of like my FIL tells me he really liked one of DH's old girlfriends, but I'm "ok too". He is joking, but IMO they have poor tastes in jokes.

    Brush it off. I don't think he meant to do any damage.

    That's how I read it as well. I don't know your FIL, but I definitely didn't see it as a dig.

    All right, you all calmed me down.  I originally wrote "Uh, I guess the cheerleading scholarships I turned down to UNR and UofA to stay with your son didn't matter."  But I didn't send it.  Luckily.
