Does your LO have a specific comfort object? What is it? How did it come to be, did you just keep pushing it until it became familiar or did LO "choose" it.
DD has fluctuated between a couple over the past 11 months, first it was a tiny little stuffed animal rattle and then it was one blanket and then it was another. The past 3 months she has really settled on 1 blanket and since late September, her pumpkin build-a-bear. She chose the blanket herself but I guess we kind of "pushed" the bear on her just be always putting her to bed with it, bringing it in the car and store with us etc. but now she loves it and calls him "Bear", she'll give him hugs and kisses and if I ask where "Bear" is she will go find him and hold him up for me to see before hugging him. It's so cute! The blanket is one of those plain cotton knit ones, it was a granimals brand from Walmart that came in a two pack. Her's is the white with pastel polka dots and the other one is pink and for some reason she hates the plain pink one... so now I have to spend $10 to get a pack of two blankets, one of which will never be used lol
It's also kind of funny that her blankie looks scary similar to mine, that I absolutely still have lol the only differences is that mine had a silky edge and the pastel polka dots were actually balloons.
Re: "Lovies"
Some kids take to him some don't.
I put a blanket in dd crib from 6 months on along with the sea horse. She never attached to anything (not even a pacifier) she has favorited stuffed animals but nothing that stuck as "her" thing
with DS I out the same blanket in his crib at 6 months with the FP sea horse and he snuggled up with it and won't go ANYWHERE with out it. I tried other blankets and he only wants this one.
The blanket was mine as a baby so maybe it smelled like me?? Not sure but something about this one is different
