    Thanks yesterday was a really bad day for me. More crying than not. Hoping for a little more peace and calm today.

    I wasn't sure if I should tell you this-- it may give you false hope or the opposite, but I took care of a young lady a few months ago who had surgery as a fetus or as a newborn (I can't remember which) to put her brain back in her skull. I have no idea how bad her situation was, but I know that the doctor who performed the surgery on her still followed her case-- even though he was an hour away at another hospital system. She had to have stents placed and replaced over the years (which was why she was in my ICU despite not being all that critically ill). But she seemed happy, especially when her brother would visit her. She did have some retardation, but she is 20+ years old, so I'm guessing there are even better results to be gotten now with all the medical advances in the past two decades.

    Anyhow, I hope the neurosurgeon can give you some good news. They really do some amazing things these days.

    That is my hope. Unfortunately the MFM is giving a a guarded diagnosis that she would even survive to be full term and if she did she may never be able to feed herself, get dressed and so on. We just feel so lost and conflicted right now.

    I would definitely wait and see what the neurosurgeon has to say-- they are way more knowledgeable about these things than an MFM. No sense in making decisions or worrying until all the facts are in, right?

    Yes, if only the would call with the effin' appt time! They had all the stuff at 3 yesterday and said it should only take a few minutes to look at and would call back with our next steps. Waiting is murder and I can't decide if this extra time is a no news is goodnews kind of thing or if no one wants to tell me they don't think surgery will be a good option.

    I can't even imagine how agonizing this must be for you. I do hope the neurosurgeon can at least give you a clearer picture of what you might be dealing with. Sending you lots of hugs.

    I would call the office and say that you were supposed to hear back by yesterday afternoon about an appointment. You need to make arrangements, let alone develop a plan sooner rather than later, for pete's sake!
