I need some crib assistance. Were picking out a crib and stuff and I need a little help.
Right now Im considering a Graco Freeport crib and a serta nightstar extra firm crib.
Are these okay? Any recommendations on something else that would be better?
Also, regular cute bumper or breathable bumpers?
Anything else I should get or is all I need are bumpers and sheets?
I also dont really want her to roll over because I worry about it and she cant really roll from front to back. Is there anything safe that I can use to keep her from rolling over?
Anything else you can think of would be helpful!
Thanks!
Re: I need crib help
I have nothing good or bad to say about the crib or mattress.
Do not use bumpers of any kind. They are not safe.
Im pretty sure sleep positioners aren't safe either. Your baby will roll eventually no matter what you do.
Get some mattress pads and sheet savers.
We have a Graco crib. It's completely fine. We unexpectedly needed one at the last minute and I could get it quickly. We're happy with it. I do like that it doesn't need a conversion kit to turn it into a toddler bed or a full size bed since those kits can run $75+ and we don't even know if we'll use that feature. We bought ours from Target online (I had a bunch of gift cards) but they also carry them at Walmart online, so check both for the best price.
We don't use bumpers. DD is a rolly polly and has already stuck arms and legs through the slats. She doesn't like it but she's fine and it's NBD. She ends up next to the sides a fair amount and I'd much rather her be able to breathe and have an arm stuck instead of having her face mushed up to fabric.
Once they can roll, you can leave them be if they roll on their own. FWIW, DD rolls all.the.time during the day but very rarely rolls at night and cries when she does so that we'll come flip her on her back (no idea why she refuses to do it herself at night).
No input on the mattress. As long as it's a firm one, I'm sure it's fine. My mom bought a crib from Walmart online and it included a free mattress as a promo. It's a firm crib mattress so I have no issues with her using it (we have an organic mattress at home which I think is ridiulous but whatev).
ETA: I just have a bunch of cute, patterened sheets that coordinate with her room since we don't have a bumper. Her crib is plenty cute and it's much easier to change her sheet
Here are some of my "experienced" advice after having 2 kids.
We got a mattress from BRU and a waterproof mattress pad. Just make sure its firm but comfortable.
Crib sheets I had 3 per kid and that was enough. Pottery barn kids makes the best quality sheets (IMO) all others I got elastic stretched or didn't fit the crib right (too tight or too loose). Check the sales I was getting them for under $12 from pottery barn
DD was out of a toddler bed around 2.5 and DS never went to a toddler bed (converted crib) since he was huge and hated his crib. The minute I put him in a full sized bed at 16 months (with guard rails and low to the ground) he took 2.5 hour naps...from 45 minutes....and slept through the night!
Check out WONDER BUMPERS! They are adorable, soft, and breathable! They are not a SIDS risk. We ordered ours from BRU https://www.gomamagodesigns.com/wonder-bumpers
Both my kids rolled over around 4 months old and slept on their tummy. I would lay them on their backs and they rolled over right away. If I rolled them back they would scream and roll back...just how they liked to sleep nothing I could do about it. They still like to sleep on their tummy. As a baby this made the mobile completely useless so I got a crib soother (best purchase EVER!) with a remote
