Uterine stretching v cramping?

I have been having this cramping sensation below my stomach, possibly around my pelvis (but I'm not so good with anatomy) and I'm starting to get concerned because its not really going away and its starting to become more painful.  It's almost like several shooting pains right around where you would have menstrual cramps.  I'm not bleeding or anything, so I don't think it's a miscarriage, but the last time I ignored stomach pains it turned out I had a third baby in my fallopian tube that had to be removed, so its hard for me to not worry.

I have been checking out Dr. Google and discovered that it could be uterine stretching, but the descriptions of where the cramping sensations are (described as below the belly button) don't really help.

Did any of you Ladies go through or feel something similar?  If so, how long did it last (I'm sort of over feeling these odd cramps!)?  Do you know if it was stretching or could it be something else?  I don't want to go to the doctor for nothing.

Thanks!

  • If you have concerns always best to get things checked out just to be safe...that being said I had all kinds of weird cramping and stretching at different points throughout the pregnancy...just part of being pregnant I think!

  • I am guessing you have an an u/s or two, so it wouldn't be a baby growing in your tube.  It is normal to have on/off cramping, sharp pains, etc.  I have had menstrual like cramps that have lasted an entire day and the next day it is gone.  If you are concerned call the OB. If you are not bleeding and not having contractions, I would think it is normal "growing pains".

  • I am also 11 weeks 2 days and I have had menstrual - like cramps off and on. I just had my second u/s on Tuesday and everything looked good so I'm not concerned. With my daughter I had odd cramps/pains throughout the pregnancy and they were normal. I'm sure with twins it's probably more common since there is extra stretching. If you are at all concerned though, I would contact your doctor.

Oh, I know that.  I was saying that the last time I ignored pain in my stomach during this pregnancy, that's what it ended up being, so these extra cramps and random pains are making me more nervous than maybe is warranted.

Thanks for the advice though.  I guess I should relax a little.  I'll see how it goes.

It is hard to relax.  Trust me, I google every little pain I get to make sure it is normal, lol. Your're not alone in the worry department Wink  Sorry about your previous loss.
