Can we talk about poop?

When we started P on WCM his poops were soft and play-do like.  Now that we've been on WCM for nearly a month, his poops are now the size and consistency of small rocks!  I can see them protruding from his diaper and if I don't wrap the diaper up after I change him, they roll out onto the floor!  Should I be concerned?

Re: Can we talk about poop?

  • Give him some juice, apples, fruit(not bananas), everyday to keep them softer. If he is having a hard time passing them he could get fissures.

  • Sounds like constipation. Ditto PP and limit binding foods cheese, rice, bananas etc. Oddly quinoa really helps DS go.

  • DS had some constipation and hard poop issues when we switched to WCM. I agree with Penny. We dont do juice, but we make sure DS has fruit 2-3 times a day and always has a water sippy available. That has made a huge difference.

This kid eats fruit like it's going out of style!  He loves apples and pears.  We have yet to give him juice and he has water in his sippy with every meal.  That's why I am confused!

Oh, and he poops about 3-4 times a day.

  • If it doesn't seem to bother him I wouldn't worry about it. Unless he is straining badly or it seems to hurt he's probably fine.
  • Yogurt always works for us.  I buy the plain Greek and mix fruit in.
