BFing moms who are back at work...

I did a trial day with Evan yesterday at daycare so I could meet with my sub and get caught up on things for my return next Monday. I sent four 3 oz bottles and he took about 10 oz from 7:30 to 3:30. I pumped three times and got 16 oz. He then clusterfed in the evening and was up multiple times last night wanting to nurse.

So,

how many ounces does your LO take over how many hours while you're at work?

how much do you pump?

did your LO clusterfeed with you those first couple days after being away from you?

Re: BFing moms who are back at work...

  •  I send at least 20oz if I can send 24 I will. I usually get extra back but I am super paranoid that she will run out.

M-W she is at MIL's from 7-130 and Th-F she is at day care from 7-530.

How many ounces does your LO take over how many hours while you're at work?  He typically takes 3 4-oz bottles

how much do you pump? I usually pump 5 ounces at a time, so as long as I pump 3x I stay ahead of him (barely)

did your LO clusterfeed with you those first couple days after being away from you? No, but I haven't truly returned FT, so we'll see what happens when I do 12/3

  • I'm away for a 12 hour shift and I try to leave 18 oz. DS eats between 3 to 4 oz per bottle. I can only pump 4 times which includes 5am before I leave and I get about 12 oz. So far he eats less during the day and clusterfeeds like crazy during the evening and even wakes up in the MOTN when he was previously STTN. Luckily I only have one day a week till January so he gets back to normal the next day.

  • how many ounces does your LO take over how many hours while you're at work? Right now she is taking about 12 oz. I have more there and since my MIL is watching her it's easy to leave reserves.

how much do you pump? I get about 10-12 oz pumping twice a day here.

did your LO clusterfeed with you those first couple days after being away from you? Yes. She also smiles when I feed her at first. It's the funniest thing to see and I can't help but crack up

  • I pump twice during my 8to5 shift. I get between 10 to 14 oz. DS takes about 10 oz while I'm gone.
I am able to feed him on my lunch break.

The first week he definitely cluster fed at night.
  • My LO takes 2-4oz bottles. I dropp her off at 9:30 and pick her up between 3:30 & 4:00pm. I pump first thing in the morning after she eats and get about 3-4 oz, I nurse her at 8:45 before I drop her, I pump at noon and get around 6-8 oz and then I pump in the car at 3pm waiting for my son to get off the bus and get about 4 oz. the first few days she did cluster feed.

  • "Can you leave some frozen milk just in case so you don't have to stress about sending extra on a daily basis"

That's a good idea and one I've never thought of, duh!

  • Wow I cannot pump as much as you all. My DS eats depending on his nap schedule (usually a 4 oz bottle). I can only pump 4 oz total (only pumping for 10 min).

Married to my best friend and mom to Calvin, 18 months old. We are so excited to being having Baby #2 (due on our 4 year anniversary)
