So, this morning I heard DS wake up and talk to himself for a few minutes before I got up to get him. I made his bottle and went to the bathroom and when I was in the bathroom I heard a thud and he cried for a few seconds. I wondered what he was doing, but figured he knocked something over on his changing table or something. I went in there and he was on the floor in crawling position. He has seemed fine all morning and I'm going to call doctor in 10 minutes when they'll answer, but OMG!!! I have seen DS standing and leaning way over sometimes on the video monitor so I'm guessing that's what he did. We have a breathable bumper in there, but I thought it would squash down if he stepped on it. I'll be taking it out now. DH told me the crib was on the lowest setting, but I just looked at it and it seems there's one more to go! Agh! Has anyone else experienced this?
Re: DS jumped out of the crib!
That's insane! Like Lisa, I think if you move the crib down another notch all will be fine. Ours is on the lowest setting and the rail comes to her chin. There is no way on earth she will be getting over that for a while.
If you say he was leaning over, then it's definitely not low enough.
Glad he is OK.
PS... You shoul dbe able to lower yourself. It may need a special tool, but they usually have 4 screws that you take out and replace in the lower notches. Lay bottom on top. Easy Peasy.
On my cribs you need an allen key. I've lowered my kids' crib mattresses every time. If I wanted to DH the cribs would still be in their boxes.
Like PP said, I'm sure your DS is fine, but how scary that must have been! So crazy. Hope his mama has recovered from the shock of it all.
This, I've done it three times with our crib. You got this, girl! Just like Lisa said, the frame goes up and down, then pop the screws in place. Betcha you can YouTube it, if you are a visual learner like me :-)
Good luck with the crib. If you don't still have the paperwork from when you bought it, you should be able to find instructions online. It shouldn't be too hard.
I hope LO is okay. Sounds like just a scare, probably more for you than for him.
Burned by the Bear
This exactly! I am almost expecting to see more of these posts on here within the next few months since our LOs are getting more active.
Good for you! Good job!!
Oh gosh! How scary. I am glad you got the crib lowered. N fell off of my bed once...I was so scared. I called the Pedi and they said just to watch her for a couple of hours and if she starts acting funny, gets a fever etc. to call back. She was fine. I think it scared me more than it scared her.
I am impressed by how resourceful so many of you are. I have never even attempted to move the crib lower. It falls under DH's "man jobs" :P
So, so true! I put DD's crib together by myself a month before she was born. I like putting furniture together though... "It's like high stakes Legos"
