Pregnant after 35

38 yrs old...single...First time pregnant

Wanted to say hello to everyone!  I am 23 wks 1 day pregnant with a beautiful baby boy.

Pregnancy was not planned...been on birth control most of my adult life.  My boyfriend was NOT happy at first (He is 38 also...first baby for him) but he is slowly coming around.

It has been a bumpy ride so far...I was carrying twins, but lost one at 14 wks.   Thought I lost baby boy at 19 wks when I woke up one morning to find a LOT of blood.  But my hyper little baby is growing and healthy :)  Took my first 'baby bump' picture this morning...which was kind of cool.  I want to have some documentation of my growing belly to pass on to my son someday.

  • Welcome! I am so sorry for the loss of one of your twins, especially after you'd made it through the first tri, but it is wonderful that your baby boy is healthy and thriving. This is a great community! Jump in and have fun.

  • Welcome! Sorry for you loss :( But, congrats on your little boy!
  • Congrats! I also lost a twin in my last pregnancy at 9.5 weeks and went on to have a healthy, beautiful boy.
  • Congratulations, although I'm sorry about the loss of the twin. Welcome to the board! You're in good company here. I'm also 38 and this will be my first.

  • Sorry for your loss, but thankful that your baby boy is doing well!  I'm 20 weeks with my first at 42.  Everything I've read leads me to believe that women who are older, though they may have higher medical risks (as you've seen) flow into parenting with greater confidence and overall better sense of well being.  So, you've got THAT going for you!

First Pregnancy...38 and excited! SO is 36 and over the moon as well! Everything is new right now, but sometimes things happen just as they should! Surprise surprise!
  • Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm sorry that you lost one of your twins. Fortunately the little man is doing well. You and your BF will  both be over the moon when he arrives. Enjoy and relax.
